Any questions?
I have one, who was the voice actor who said that?

He was apparently not famous enough for the Partnership for a Drug-Free America to mention on their web page on the ad. Just some guy.
Interesting that the clip available there, on the originator’s home page, doesn’t show the total original ad. It leaves out showing the egg first, and saying “this is your brain.” I wonder why? Seriously.
Probably because those inclined to visit an anti-drug site would likely not be smashing their eggs with the evil drug pans anytime soon.
The page mentions that the Egg Association had issues with portraying the egg as potentially Eeeeeevil to the few two-year-olds out there who wouldn’t “get” that it was a metaphor, so maybe they’re downplaying the “egg” aspect of it, knowing that it’ll be widely linked and/or Youtubed on the Internet, just to avoid static.
It makes you wonder if that ad was sponsered by chicken/egg farmers. lol
Not really. You’ll notice that DDG showed that the Egg Council criticized the add.
Interesting. But I do wonder if it did in fact hurt their business.
I had no idea such a thing as the Egg Council existed, and that they would be angry about the ad. At least one version had that really hot chick in it from Josie and the Pussycats! What’s not to like?
I see that the ad in the PDFA link is a close-up shot with voice-over. It is clearly not the original.
I remember seeing only a version with a guy on camera demonstrating the analogy while addressing the camera. He also specifically states that the egg is “your brain.”
Who was that guy?
The version I remember, it sounded an awful lot like Richard Dean Anderson (of MacGuyver and, later, Stargate SG-1 fame). But I don’t think I ever saw a version of the original that showed the speaker on screen.
There was also a much later version (late 90s) with, I think, Allanis Morisette, where she showed the frying pan “This is drugs”, and then on the “this is your brain on drugs”, proceeded to thoroughly smash up the entire kitchen.
Actually, it was Rachel Leigh Cook.

It does sound like McGuyver.
I remember seeing that ad as a kid. Brought on an amusing argument with my mom.
Me: so, what, being on drugs makes you want to fry eggs?
Mom: No, they’re saying it fries your brain.
Me: I think being on drugs must just make people crave eggs.
Mom: Go to your room
It was Rachel Leigh Cook. “This is your brain.” (Shows the egg.) “This is heroin.” (Shows the frying pan.) “This is what happens to your brain after snorting heroin.” (Smashes the egg with the frying pan.) “It’s not over yet. This is what your family goes through. And your friends. And your money. And your job. And your future. And your self-respect.” (Punctuates each sentence by smashing more of the kitchen, culminating in throwing it at a clock on the wall.) “Any questions?”
Something like that, anyway. Our high school subscribed to Channel One, and the only good thing about it was seeing this commercial day after day.

It’s a freaking EGG!
That’s an egg. That’s a frying pan. Tthat’s a stove. You’re an alcoholic. Dude, I’m tripping right now, and I still see that that’s an egg, okay?

Ah yes, I remember having a crush on the girl in that commercial when I was younger.
