Then why not advocate 2023 Jan 01?
Not too sure this is a good sign for Fox:
From Seth MacFarlane (reporting from the courtroom):
I explained that in the end of the sentence you quoted. To repeat, most of the time when people use dates, they are referring to the current year and therefore can drop the year.
I’d actually be interested in Seth MacFarlane’s reporting.
Oh oh.
Looks like Fox might have lied in the current court case that is about their previous lying.
It’s lying liars all the way down!
NY Times is reporting that the parties have settled. No details yet.
Very disappointing.
What am I gonna do with all this popcorn?
I’ll reserve judgment until I know more about the settlement terms.
CNN also breaking the news that a settlement has been reached. No details, though.
So if they settle, does the issue of Faux and its mouthpieces lying to the court automatically go away? Or is it too soon to tell?
Dominion lawyer speaking outside of courtroom. $787.5 million, and Fox admits to the lies.
Sounds like, so far, Faux and their lying hosts got of easier than easy.
CNN’s Jake Tapper just read Fox’s statement–and tried, unsuccessfully, to not laugh at the end.
Do any of our legal eagles know whether this settlement voids the legal issues that fox and/or its lawyers got into due lying about discovery? Since the trial isn’t happening is it all moot? or since they tried to slip one past the court are they still in trouble?
I heard on msnbc that the special master can bring more hurt on Faux.
Nothing on the Fox news site…of course.
the court typically retains jurisdiction to investigate and sanction misconduct. Part of the deal could be something like Dominion will withdraw it’s request for sanctions." But, even if that happened (I’m just imagining possibilities) it wouldn’t necessary mean the court won’t follow up on it’s own.
Well, IANAL as you know and this is only an educated guess, but…
I think the special master appointment goes away because it was attached to this litigation, which is now resolved. But there is nothing that prevents further independent investigation into whether Fox lied to the court about a fulsome exchange of discovery. That’s a big no-no, withholding evidence.
I doubt we’ve heard the last of this issue, however it plays out. The judge may employ the same special master to get to the bottom of it, just in a different capacity.
