This Just In...Fox News Channel is bunch of lying fucks

Smartmatic, party of one? Your table is ready.

I wonder if there is any requirement for Fox to put anything on their website about the settlement, and apologize there for lying?

Otherwise, they will just toss it down the memory hole, and Fox viewers will continue to believe the lies that Fox peddled.

ETA: I think one reason Fox caved at this late hour was the court’s imposition of the special master to investigate what documents Fox had failed to disclose. I strongly suspect there are some major smoking guns that Fox was hiding, and they hope this settlement will keep them under wraps.

I’ve also seen speculation that the court ordering Rupert be made available to testify was the last straw.

Makes sense. If he ever placed his hand on a bible, he’d burst into flame.

The rest of the pukes are still on the hook, right?

Apparently not:

Fox News anchors will not have to acknowledge on-air that it told election lies about Dominion Voting Systems as part of the terms of its settlement, a representative for the election technology company told CNN.

I imagine that alone added a few hundred million to Dominion’s final number.

Fox News viewers will never know.

Even if told by Fox, they would not believe.

I don’t know about that. Trump held up a Bible and he didn’t burn.

IIRC, he held it upside down, so maybe that prevented him from burning? A kind of unintentionally avoided curse by stupidity? Blessed are the simple minded…

I posted in P&E that hat Fox News website makes no mention of the settlement anywhere

Special counsel finds Biden Cabinet secretary violated federal law during 2022 election cycle

is the headline.

$800m is half of what was asked, without much further legal ado. For Dominion, that must seem very balanced. But is it fair?

Which of course is highly misleading since it gives the impression that this person violated serious campaign laws rather than just made a minor Hatch Act infraction. Yes the Hatch act is important and he shouldn’t have done it and it was good that he apologized, it was peanuts compared to the violations that the Trump administration made flagrantly on a daily basis.

Well, it’s about 5% of Fox’s net worth. And there are more lawsuits to follow, I believe.

SmartMatic Voting Systems (?) sued Fox for $2.7B, I think (but don’t know how to spell it since heard this on TV)

Smartmatic, yes.

But no appeal, and no judge knocking the dollar amount down.

I wonder if everything Dominion has gathered can be used by the next plaintiff?

I wonder if Fox’s failure to disclose can be used by the next plaintiff when they are deposing witnesses and getting documents from Fox.

This is the amount because the case is over in the present day. They were accounting for the value of the same money if Dominion had to wait 10 years to get through the appeals before they could get a final judgment and collect.

And the above of course assumes that Dominion would have gotten a verdict favorable to their case – which is easy to forecast with OPM (Other People’s Money). There’s nothing that focuses the mind of litigating parties like staring at 12 (or in this case, 24, including alternates) and hoping like hell you can convince each and every one of them of the merits of your case.

I’m disappointed, but not surprised.

It is actually on the Fox News website but get a load of their weak ass “our bad” statement. From my viewpoint, they word it to make it sound like Dominion was the one spreading falsehoods, claim they have the highest journalism standards, and then hope to see peace and love and not this divisiveness that seems to have popped up for some unknown reason.
