I still want to know what happened to that thread. I’m not giving any credence to the theory that richman was banned for one completely innocuous post about not liking a movie based on what he saw on Ebert’s show, but the evidence that would help support my case is missing.
However, it seems as if richman2 has not been banned, although I know it needn’t say “BANNED” under his name for him to be banned. So I’ll hope this has been resolved amicably.
Bah. Even if he was banned for little or no reason, tough. The simplest explanation (which is most often the correct one) would appear to be that someone made a mistake.
I’ll tell you what: Demand that they give you your money back. I’m sure they’d be more than willing to do so

As you can see, they seem unconcerned enough to let me continue, and ask my questions and get my answers. So I don’t have a problem any more. 
As for waterj2’s burning curiosity, it looks like they don’t care to explain themselves to him either. (Could it be because he is right about the “moderator conspiracy” and they are intentionally toying with him to have a good laugh? Or, is it just that he’s not exactly in the position of “need to know”? Yawn. Maybe he needs to re-calibrate the sound tests for the Grassy Knoll.)

Here’s the thread that started it–do you see anything in there that would get anyone banned? And it was kiffa who went ballistic and Pitted richman over it, not vice versa. The whole idea is ridiculous…unless kiffa is actually one of the Reader’shead honchos (and a nasty one, too), which I doubt.

Get a clue Coldfire. You’re not any more respected than the others in this thread. We’ve all had to suffer reading your gibes. There are a handful who are always sticking it to other people, and I’ve been seeing your threads for months.
If you only get respect from other old timers, maybe it’s because they remember you before you went sour and had to use a big count to try for respect. Sorry, but respect doesn’t come that way.

There are many people here who I respect, from Freedom 2 (less than 100 posts) to Coldfire (almost 5000 posts). There are some here who I remain apathetic about, such as Handy (what, more than 6000 posts? More posts than anyone else). Then there are some I disrespect… like you.
Now, why would I respect those that I respect? Because I’ve found them to be intelligent, capable of presenting their thoughts and ideas well, generally pleasant to be around, and dedicated to the SDMB and willing to make a bit of an effort to have a good showing here. In short, they EARNED it.
Why would I disrespect those that I disrespect? Because they quickly show themselves to be arrogant, abrasive, small-minded, petty, whiny, and, ultimately, annoying. Perhaps, instead of trying to make yourself feel better, you can try to be a bit more thoughtful about what you do and don’t post here?
Who knows… you may earn some respect. It’s really not too difficult to do.

The ones I respect don’t get into these “my count is bigger than yours” debates. I presume Coldfire was talking about me when he went up over 100 for respect, and when I pass 1000, he’ll still be there, trying his lame best to be respected for his count.
Who do I respect? Mostly people with low counts, the ones who talk about things other than how grandly they are respected.
The few oldbies I respect are of the 2sense, handy, and arnold cut of cloth. They actually like people and like being here, and also like all the new people who turn up.
No matter what your count gets to, you’ll never make that cut.
