This Marine got a date with Mila Kunis.

A Marine serving in Afghanistan posted a Youtube video asking actress Mila Kunis Marine Corps Ball in November.

She said she going!

Cute story. I bet he’s a perfect gentleman and has a night to remember the rest of his life. It’s nice of Mila to do this for one of our vets. It reminds me of the Hollywood Canteen during WWII. Staffed by volunteers that included actresses. Soldiers on R & R could stop for a drink and dance.

Reminds me of the kid who wrote to a Playboy playmate and asked her to be his prom date - and she said yes.

I’m actually betting that the Marine Corp public relations people are going to make sure thats a well shaperoned date. Still, score one for the leathernecks and kudos to the young woman.

Declan

C’mon, Mila, be a sport. Give him something to really remember.

LOL Nice. That would be the best minute or two (pushing it) of my life. She is so gorgeous.

R. Lee Ermey should be the chaperone.

I wonder if the Marine or Mila considered the work required to pull this off? Some event planners will have to add some security to the event, figure out Mila’s schedule etc. It’s not just a matter of picking her up in a nice car and saying “hi”.

It is all for a good cause. Not just for this one Marine. It’ll be a morale boost and good PR for the military in general.

I mentioned the WWII Hollywood Canteen in the OP. What a wonderful idea, all staffed and paid for by volunteers in the Motion Picture Industry. The price of admission for any soldier was his uniform. Any soldier in uniform got food, drink & entertainment free of charge.

I’ve seen pictures of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars from the 1930’s dancing with the men and entertaining the troops there. For many men it was the last great memory before they shipped overseas to the front. A lot of those guys never made it back. Makes me feel really good that this was done for our men.

Hollywood still does a lot to help our military overseas with all sorts of services.

My friend went to high school and/or knows this guy personally. Posted his FB page this morning on his status. Pretty cool.

Mila Kunis is a famous actress but she’s not a member of the royal family. She’s not even really an A-list actress or a serious tabloid target, liike Julia Roberts or Angelina Jolie. Why on earth would there need to be extra security? I’m pretty sure Mila Kunis goes to the store and parties and stuff without having to worry about security arrangements.

At to her schedule, that’s why she has a personal assistant. It’s the assistant’s job to do that.

Plus, I’d imagine being at a ball with a couple of hundred Marines is pretty decent security in its own right.

Hollywood is so competitive, and good press is so desireable, other Marines should try this, with other actresses! Mila already said yes; how can Scarlett Johansson say no? Or Megan Fox? That girl needs some good publicity!

Marine Sgt. Scott Moore reacts to the good news.

More about him

Them Marine Corps dress uniforms are pretty snappy.

Are Marine Corps Balls events requiring full dress with medals?

I wish I would have tried something like this while I was deployed.

She is one of my current dirty-old-man crushes. She is so cute and this story makes her seem *sweet *too!

Follow up: Cpl. Kelsey De Santis asked Justin Timberlake to put his actions where his mouth is and invited him to her Marine Corps Ball.

I hope JT steps up to the plate as well.

 (from the link)

What a coincidence something like this would happen right before their movie comes out. Still, it’s a nice thing to do.

The timing is just perfect, almost like some savvy PR people set this up for some free…
