This may sound sick

So my hand and forearms are sore.

Yeah - I told you it sounded sick, but it’s not really. I helped my brother move into his new apartment last night, and it involved moving 2 couches, 3 mattresses, 4 box springs, 1 HUGE solid oak entertainment center, 3 TVs and various other PITA furniture.

In doing so, I worked my fore arms, wrists, and hands to the point that they didn’t hurt - they just ceased to function.

After a night’s rest, I feel better and they work again - but they are super stiff.

How do I stretch out the fore arm muscle? And what exercises build up these muscles so I can be a strong moving man when I grow up?

Anyone?

Here are some stretches:

Holding one arm straight in front of you, use your other hand to pull the palm and fingers back in a “stop” position or as far as you can without pain. Hold 5 seconds. You can also do this by pressing your hand against a wall.

Reverse the first one; that is, pull your fingers and palm toward you as far as possible without pain. Hold 5 seconds.

Holding your hands in your lap, palms up, open your hand. Then try to touch your thumbs to the base of your little fingers. Repeat 10 times.

Now, do that one with palms down.
Keeping your palm still, slowly move your thumb in as large a circle as you can, 10 times.

Pick up a hammer. Holding your forearm at waist height and level, slowly bend your wrist, moving the hammer forward and down, then back and up. 15 reps per hand.

I’ll let somebody else handle the strength part. Be patient.

Play tennis?

A man named John Brookfield wrote a book called Mastery of Hand Strength. It’s about $15.

Read the book, do the exercises, and your hands, wrists, and forearms will get stronger.
