This more of a MPQIMA of CA Dopers

Anyone know who the congressmen for Malibu and/or SJ Paolo Alto?

That’s a somewhat unclear question – are you talking about those now in office? Those just elected (US elections were yesterday)?

Either way, the CA Secretary of State’s page is where to get those answers. The election returns web page is at http://vote2002.ss.ca.gov/ .

You can find current representatives & district maps from this page : http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_r.htm

Also the US House of Representatives :

You can get better answers based on address (ZIP code actually) at http://www.house.gov/writerep/
Palo Alto is a city in the 14th Congressional District.
San Jose is covered by several districts – the 14th, 15th, and possibly part of the 16th.

Malibu is mostly covered by the 24th District, with some parts in the 30th District, I think. Check all the maps if you want to know more.

On the very slight chance that the ‘who’ didn’t belong in the question, I don’t know them but you can always write to them.

For Palo Alto:

Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA 14th)
5th-term Democrat.

For Malibu/Sherman Oaks:

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA 24th)
3rd-term Democrat.

If you know the zip code, this site is good:

For malibu, the 90265 zip code was split between the 23rd and 24th district. The 23rd has a district office in Oxnard and is represented by:

Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-CA 23rd)
8th-term Republican.

Thanks guys! I did mean those to be seated in January. Why I’m asking (I Know you want to know). 2 of my celebrity crushes live in those cities. One I KNOW lives in Malibu, the other one grew up in in SJ, now a student at Stanford.

The Malibu resident is a native of Torrance, who’ll be their rep? BTW, just ask, and I tell who they are.

Torrance is Dist. 36, but you need the address to know for sure. The representative depends on their place of residence/registration, not on their birthplace. (If they split their time between Malibu & Torrance they are represented in some way by both, but they can only be registered (and vote) in one district.)

The CA legislature has a better listing of districts, and you can see how much of a city is contained in a particular district. URL is http://www.sen.ca.gov/ftp/sen/cngplan/newtextdocument.htp .

If you need to find information for any other cities, the USPS page will give you all the zip codes for a city - simply enter it in http://www.usps.com/zip4/citytown_zip.htm
and then use the house web search.(Not trying to make you do a lot of work here, but it seems it’d be faster than waiting for the message board to answer.)

Who the celebrities are isn’t as intriguing to me as why you want to contact their congressmembers. Are you trying to get legislation honoring them?

No lobbying, just odd curiosity.
