I’m mad about my favorite thread game being closed. I think maybe it can be recovered when the other stuff is fixed. The thread games being less important, I guess.

And yeah, it’s call ‘infinite scroll.’ On sites like Facebook, it’s intended to deprive you of any logical stopping points as you scroll through your newsfeed, encouraging you to keep scrolling so Facebook can keep monetizing your attention. Like not having clocks in a casino. On a site like this, it’s a massive blunder that serves no purpose.
Oh, by the way, you see a vertical slider immediately to the right of the list of posts, right? It’s like a scroll bar, but it’s put there by the website rather than by the browser itself. You should be able to click that and drag it to the top or bottom to get to post #1 or the final post.
I see that the “Clusterfuck” and “Trolls r us” threads in the pit seem to have been auto-closed due to reaching the size limit. What’s up with that?
Yeah, running the new board with JavaScript disabled isn’t all that great. It paginates, yes, but in a very different and less useful way than the old board.
If I grab the bar it does seem to go down to the bottom, but not the top. It ends up somewhere intermediate.
I’m using Firefox of some kind on a laptop. Don’t know what version, which I’ll allow could be part of the problem. I don’t allow any software to update itself automatically - I got tired of perfectly good tools getting screwed up by “improvements”. I take precautions and have never had a virus or malware problem that I know of. Unfortunately, this type of change we’ve had to the boards is not one I can prevent.
And I now see that clicking reply to a particular post doesn’t insert it here for a quote the way the old board did. Is that in some setting I have to monkey with?
It’s a two step process here. You also have to click on the speech bubble button in your editing bar.
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘grab.’ I’m using a click, hold, and drag motion. Are you saying you can drag it all the way to the top and something else happens?
And you can highlight the text in the post you want to quote, and then click the ‘quote’ button that appears. Don’t know if you can easily multi-quote.

Yes, multi-quote is snap. Gotta get used to the new “select text and click on gray Quote button” system.
Oh, I see, you can add the quote after the editor is instantiated and it appends the new quote to the end. That’s not bad.
Stick a   at the very end of the quote. Like this:

Yes, I click / hold/ drag to the top and the slider ends up at some point 30% or so below what should be the top.
And I hate the way quotes work.
Well, I’ll give it some time and hopefully things will improve. But if not, I’ll reconsider staying on these boards. Won’t flounce, though.

I see posts now have to have a minimum of 5 characters now, down from 20 by default.
Has to be the full quote from the most recent post before system removes it.
I don’t have that. Does it only work with certain themes? I’m using Sam Simple. Do I need to do something to get it?
It doesn’t show up on most mobile devices.
