This person thinks I am anti-Semitic from a FB post (this thread can put me on thin ice). Thoughts?

What are we saying about what it means to be the “founder” of that anyway? Is there some original foundational virtue or crime in founding hollywood?

The Hollywood movie industry was pioneered by Jewish immigrants. Harvey Wilcox founded the modern community of and registered the name Hollywood, CA with his wife. He registered the name in 8/1886. The funny thing is he wanted to the town to be a Christian utopia. Boy, that didn’t work.

kunilou, what I mean is I would my other account to see the posts they put on their pages (“watching”/“stocking”), but not use the Like or comment on the open comment spaces.

I’ll post my response as soon as clear it with the Elders.

I would suggest that you apologize and promise not to do it again, but you can’t.

Moving on to your second best case, stop using a sock account to spy on these people. Stay away from them and move on with your life.

You attacked monopoly privilege and were in turn attacked by a defender of monopoly privilege with the easiest to use and most devastating thing they had lying around. This will continue to happen as long as you attack government privileges.

So what? Is this fact just a submission to Trivia Dominoes, much like “The Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing has a wingspan of 12 inches”? Or is there some reason why you find the comment interesting or relevant?

IOW, you haven’t told us enough to guess whether you might be anti-Semitic.

Let my people go.

This is factually correct.

Izzy and Moe leaped out of their covered wagon at the L.A. County line and started shooting the first footage, back in 1837.

OK. So, anyone?

If there isn’t any answer to this then why would anyone need to “assert” it, as opposed to citing it in context.

septimus, that “trivia” post was in response to drad dog asking “What are we saying about what it means to be the ‘founder’ of that anyway? Is there some original foundational virtue or crime in founding hollywood?
OK. So, anyone?”

You made your meaning perfectly clear. What I mean is that you know damn well why you were blocked and there’s no further reason to spy on them.

Look, Kadmos1, you have a valuable opportunity here if you’ll take it. You’ve been blocked for posting before you think. You made some comments that seem antisemitic in that you introduced comments about Jews that were not directly irrelevant to the conversation. You’ll be much better off if you asked yourself some tough questions, such as “What’s wrong with my thoughts that when I express them, I get in trouble and am even blocked?” *It’s not just **posting *without thinking, it’s thinking what you’re thinking.

If you believe you should think before speaking, it means what your thinking needs a filter, which means there’s something wrong with those thoughts. Otherwise, no filtering would be needed.

The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our (voiceover) stars, but in ourselves.

Not sure what was the “debate,” here.

Off to IMHO (with the speculation it might get further moved to The BBQ Pit).

Sure he has.

So, the lower half?

(Is that post antisemitic?)

If I’m understanding the thread directly, he responded to someone saying “Happy Hanukkah” by talking about how “The Jews” control Hollywood, and how many of The Jews are in Hollywood. I can’t see any reason for someone to pick that topic as a response to that statement, or to use the peculiar phrasing, if they don’t have anti-Semetic beliefs. I don’t know of any other group that talks about “The Jews” doing things and about how they run Hollywood, especially in response to a simple holiday greeting.

It’s a toss up between anti-semitic and misogynist. Think of a different joke.

Kadmos1,

As presented it seems a bit WTF.

Something about a couple being Jewish to which your mind went to a) “well they live near Hollywood so no shock, lotso Jews there” and then b) and “did you know that the Jews moved the movie industry to Hollywood from Fort Lee NJ to better commit piracy?” (Both not exact quotes.)

You may want examine your thought processes for why those responses popped up top and what that may inform you about your preconceptions and biases.

I don’t think that makes you an “anti-Semite” but it may mean that you need to have a bit more self-awareness of what tropes you implicitly buy into and without thinking reinforce.

Well choose “Left” or “Right” depending on your politics?

Seriously, what is “wrong half” supposed to imply? The old Groucho Marx joke about the restricted country club pool and his daughter?
