I would assume wrong half means your father is a Jew and your mother isn’t, which makes you a Gentile.
Bingo. But it was in passing, so I hope we can metabolize it and go back to whereever. (The lower half is fine, no problems at all, many people are saying, have said it and agree, so…)
Why don’t you answer this yourself?
OK, this is perhaps among the most insensitive things I have ever said or typed. The piracy bit was in response to someone that said Fort Lee, NJ used to the Amer. movie capital. Other than it would have been by not saying these things, I could have “Nicolas, two notable reasons for the move to Hollywood was because of the climate and to escape the patent monopoly. That is, the monopoly held by the various companies making up the Edison Trust held. In other words, several movie companies (notably, those what would become the Fox Film Corporation, Universal Pictures, and Paramount Pictures) were using the Trust’s patents in movie equipment without a license. Some of those companies were founded or co-founded by people who were ethnically Jewish. Some of studio co-founders were Gentiles. However, my intent is not to imply something like ‘because they are Jewish, they are pirates’. It is also true that the Hollywood film industry was built in part on piracy. I what do find ironic is that the big studios lobby Congress for longer or stricter copyright terms when some of them started out using the public domain (namely, the Walt Disney Company) or via patent infringement.”
Other than it would have been by not saying these things, I could have said to Toby: “There’s a reason why there is a long tradition or history of the Jewish people in Hollywood is because they helped pioneer and build the Hollywood movie industry (early 1910s). Before the Hollywood movie industry started, the Amer. film industry was HQed in Fort Lee, NJ.”
Nicolas mentioned it’s too bad that more people don’t know that Fort Lee, NJ used to the be Amer. film capital, and that some of the original film studios are still there.

That is how apologized to the lady’s husband on Twitter through a PM. Lame apology is most likely is. I first wanted to explain what I meant or should have said. I wonder how long before I am blocked from his Twitter page.
You don’t seem to understand that what you wrote feels like a complete non sequitur given the context of what you were answering. It doesn’t matter if you change the wording. From the outside it seems like you saw “Happy Hanukkah” and responded with “The Jews control Hollywood.” And this is on a page belonging to people who don’t know you. There is no reason for them to keep someone on their personal page that makes them fell uncomfortable.
That’s a really shitty apology. You don’t preface an actual apology with a wall of text explaining your jerkish behavior. You simply say, “upon reflection, I realize that the things I said were really insensitive and boorish. I’m realizing that this has become somewhat of a pattern in my behavior, and I’m making efforts to curtail it. I hope that you and your family can please accept my apology. This is the last time I’ll be bothering you.” AND THEN YOU STOP BOTHERING THEM.
So many words and clauses to explain …
that you think about jewishness a lot, and need to tell jews about it: I’m not a jew, but I think about them a lot, not because I admire them, (I think we are all equal) but I am a fan of investigating the origins of things that jews started, because history is my hobby. Can’t you agree that I am a normal person and be my anonymous friend?
If I can make out the link (and I’m not sure I can), the OP responded to Happy Hanakuah with something like “So the [names] are Jewish? Nice.” before going off about how it is predictable that a person near Hollywood would be Jewish.
In other words, the initial response was to be sarcastic about the existence of yet another Jewish person in the world…it strongly implied that “Jews” are a people to be bemoaned. And this in response to a friendly holiday greeting.
If not anti-Semitic, it was certainly a non-sequiter that gave people legit reason to be wary.
OP: What is your ethnic background?
I couldn’t read the text in the photo but did read your comments below it, OP. Then I reread this thread and have arrived at three firm conclusions.
-
OP, you have an issue with liberals and apparently a history of ticking them off. Look at your use of the term and your expressed resentment/fear that your words might tick off a “liberal Jew.”
-
OP, you have an issue with Jews. It’s not that you find Jewish contributions to Hollywood interesting; it’s that you jump right to that–and focus on “piracy”–for no apparent reason.
-
You are very, very concerned with the fact you were blocked and seem to be appealing here for exoneration. I will again urge you to quit focusing on the fact you were blocked and instead examine your own viewpoints–not how you express them or how they’re received, but your own views.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and ask if you have always had trouble “reading” other people and gaging reactions. I’m wondering if that couldn’t be a complicating factor and one reason you’ve had a history of getting blocked.
drad dog, my dad’s side has a lot of Scandinavian and my mom’s side has a lot of Mexican. Those are my ethnic builds.

My post for that was a response to someone that said Fort Lee, NJ used to be the Amer. movie capital. I responded on why the movie execs headed to Hollywood. Yes, I should have not said anything. I do have a history with pissing liberal voice actors/actresses on FB. However, I did not call the lady a “liberal Jew” on her FB page. That was a description on the image link.
There was one time I got unfriended and I don’t think it was really my fault with my response.
The first two paragraphs correspond to what I intended, but it certainly did come across as anti-Semitic to them and various others.
It’s hard for me to keep my “keyboard mouth” shut and this is why I have gotten myself constantly blocked.

For many years, I have had a hard time “reading” various other people. My Asperger’s doesn’t excuse what I said. Sure, it might explain why I said. However, it is me who is responsible for what I said.
The wonderful thing about posting online is that you get to read the words as you type them, and non-real time apps let you change what you type before you post.
It’s a shame people don’t do that more often.
I certainly applaud your attitude and your sense of responsibility. I asked because your posts reminded me of students I had with Asperger’s and a friend who has that diagnosis. While of course, you are responsible for what you post, Asperger’s makes it hard to determine whether what you’re posting will come off as offensive to others. Waiting to post, as kunilou suggested, is great advice for impulsive people, but Asperger’s isn’t about impulsivity, so more time is not going to help.
I don’t have a great solution. My Aspie (his term) friend sometimes asks me to check emails before he sends them, but I don’t know if that would work on social media, where not posting in real time means the conversation may have moved on without you. I really hate to suggest restrictions, but it might help to avoid comments involving religion. ethnicity, or politics. They’re such sensitive topics anyway, and people are easily offended in those areas.
I know that’s not ideal. Hoping someone else comes up with better solutions.
I am a FB member of a group called Liberals & Conservatives. While the group rules frowns against personal insults, the egregious and insensitive statements I told on Ellyn’s page might have been more tolerated in the group. However, I am more tactful in that group than I sometimes want to be.
