This Sporting Summer: Poms vs. Prison Dodgers

Wacko the diddlo. Having watched/read all the Yes Minister/Prime Minister series (not to forget Minder) and now a genuine son of John Bull uses THAT phrase on me. I’ve made it to the big time. I can now die fulfilled.

Day three of the Lord’s test.
Same old story I’m afraid, Aussies take a lead of 214 after England’s poor total of 187.
If Athers makes 200*, there’s chance we could draw the match.
I suspect it’ll all be over some time tomorrow.

You’d think we’d had enough of it already this summer, but RAIN DAMNIT, RAIN!!!

Atherton bowled around his legs by Warne. Monster ball. Boy, you folks are trouble.

Did I say sometime tomorrow?
Try later today, England are 50-3

Third Test, Trent Bridge and the Poms aren’t taking it lying down. Look folks, we might have a contest after all.

In conditions that you would expect the Poms to know well and exploit, they used the seam, found the edges, took the catches and looked like a cricket team.

Don’t like the chances of those punters who bought tickets to day four though.

I always thought the series would end up 3-2 to England

Funny thing is I think Waugh would have fielded had he won the toss. Nice to finally win one, though – what is it ? – the second in fifteen attempts ?

I can’t bloody believe this – the only area England have done better than the Aussie’s is with the openers. First innings Atherton was given out off his arm guard and now Trescothick’s just gone on a no-ball – I don’t even think you should be given out if the ball comes off any fielders protection (like a shin pad). What tragic bad luck for Trescothick. Onwards!

Obviously, England are in the best position they’ve been so far in this series. Too early to be confident, though. Lets see how the weather and pitch play out – not to mention England’s middle order <gulp>

Got to like the way Tudor’s come in – worked nicely in tandem with Goughie.

Very interesting situation at tea / rain break on day two. Promising.

Oh yes…
As picmr said: “Atherton bowled around his legs by Warne. Monster ball.” - looked to me like the bloddy thing did a lap of the wicket before hitting the stumps. Jesus.

Stumps session, day 2. Things are looking grim for the soap avoiders again. Ramprakash must have left his brain in the dressing room.

Since the England first innings the umpires seem to have decided that there is no such thing as LBW.

London Calling, it’s good to see Tudor back. He had “I am a test player” written all over him on your last tour here. After Caddick stopped bowling bumpers, England bowled very well (although I still don’t see the point of Craig White). Ponting’s career looks in jeopardy once again.

Is the bowler still Holding, the batsman’s Willey?

No, but Who’s probably still on first.
