Chicken chow?
I tossed out some chicken feed. Seems he thought that food was…umm…chicken feed. Passed it right up, he did. Went right for the bread.
I have songbird feed for my feeders. I may try that.

I just learned that Carole Shelley and Monica Evans first played the Pigeon sisters in, “The Odd Couple,” on Broadway, then for the Matthau/Lemmon movie, THEN for the first season of the Klugman/Randall TV show, THEN they voiced the Geese sisters
in, “The Aristocats,” for Disney. Talk about making an impression!
Bear and Meeko came and sat with me this afternoon. We talked of bird-y things. They were very attentive as I described lil’Pie.
They weren’t looking very murderous. Bear clacked his jaw a coupla times. Meeko just watched my mouth move. (I often wonder what she thinks of the noise coming out my mouth.)
I’m not really assured they won’t try and kill a bird. They like bird-y talk, though.
No matter, Mr.Wrekker put the kibosh on my pigeon aspirations. He sez they’re nasty birds.
Alas, I will only see lil’Pie out of doors.
beck has a sad
I get my squirrel food at Walmart. It is mostly corn and sunflower seeds with a small amount of peanuts in the shell. I notice they have lots of different mixes for various birds. They keep the wild bird food and the squirrel mix in the garden section, not by the pet food.
Last week I bought a bag of nuts in the shell and parceled them out. Pecans, walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts and Hazel nuts. I was amazed at how fast they open a walnut. Then they hold the half shell like a bowl and eat the nut inside. There are lots of YouTube videos of squirrels eating walnuts.

A long long time ago, I posted about a little pigeon:
Awww. That’s so sweet.
My son was deployed in the middle east at that very time. So your story touches me. We worried for him, of course.
During that time I often wondered how/if people without loved ones overthere thought about the war.
You’ve answered my questions.
Thank you.
Nice story, sailboat. Funny how helping one tiny lost creature can help your own well being.
Once we tried to save one of the son’s kitties. The rest of the litter died quickly. It lingered a day or two but it was not to be. I buried him in the side yard and planted a single flower from the garden center. All summer long it bloomed before it too faded away. That had to be ten years ago and every now and then I try to remember exactly where the flower was planted. Damn, I must have something in my eye…

Awww! Dennis. You made me tear up.
I feel like that about my foster kitty, Trooper. He was so tiny and fragile, nearly dead. The Vets at the shelter got him through the crisis. I took him home and bottle fed him. He was almost a year old when his forever Mom adopted him. I hated to let him go. I knew it was for the best, though. He’s a happy almost 4yo now. I visit him occasionally. He still remembers me and crawls up under my chin, like he did when I bottle fed him. It’s so sweet.
I was still grieving my Daddy’s death. My baby had flown the nest. I needed Trooper at that time. He helped me way more than I helped him.
No coo-ing tonight. It must be too cold for them.
I thought I saw some fluttering in the barn eaves. I guess birds live up there.
I hope lil’Pie and his better half have a warm spot to roost tonight.
No coo-ing from the eaves. lil’Pie is MIA.
It’s raining and cold.
My miss my little bird. (:()
Try tempting Pie with Everything bagels!

Mr.Wrekker came in before he left for the lakehouse. He said my rat-bird was in top of the barn. And does have a girlfriend.
It’s a nasty night out. I’m glad they are in the barn.
I hope barn-kitty doesn’t bother them. I don’t think she gets up in the loft.
I must ponder a name for lil’Pies girly-bird.
Mr.Wrekker said their last name could be Under-glass.
He thinks he’s funny!
Cool. Little Pigie Poo might be a daddy!

Awwww. I’ll have grand-birdies!
Y’all realize birds aren’t real, right?![]()
Now I know. You can find anything you want on the internet.
Kinda scary, actually.
I saw lil’Pie in my walk this morning. He was alone. I think Girlybird might be nesting.
I got within 3 feet of him and tossed some bread crumbs. If I hadn’t had the doggies I might have gotten closer.
He bobbed his head at me.
Sweet lil’Pie!
You can revive the Order of the Pigeon:
You need to come up with a new ritual , of course. I like their insignia. Here is a cute one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Betsey-Johnson-AB-Crystal-Peace-Dove-Pigeon-Pendant-Charm-Sweater-Chain-Necklace/362896004870?hash=item547e499706:g:xm8AAOSwlq9eFU02
