This thread is just about this thread

“Zed’s a thread, baby. Zed’s a thread.”
I nominate Zed.

I’m a-fray-ed I cotton go yarn like this any more.

That was post #100, Happy Lendervedder, in this infant thread. How many times does a thread rise from the void to 100 posts in the span of less than a day?

Zed is a good option.

I favor the neuter number since that leaves the mysterious aura that this thread is developing.

But hey, that’s just me, a pawn in the game of life (with apologies to Alex Karras).

Spelt it Ze’d’ in honor of the poster who started this thread about a thread.
I dream of a world where my children’s children will someday be posting in a thread about a thread about a thread about a thread. And they’ll look back to this here thread in the year 20-ought-three, and smile upon reflecting on the contributions Grampa Happy had made.

Actually, all I dream about is having a really good steak everyday for the rest of my life. That would be sweet.

Happy

Steak is good Happy! I like to dream of good stuff, too.

And I missed the tribute in the Ze’d’ monicker. That’s too cool.

I could be persuaded.

I just hope the stops come on out further and we can start being really creative here. This thread deserves some special considerations. After all, it isn’t every day that a thread has a chance to rise above the fray and speak out for all to hear (or see).

What evidence is there that this thread actually exists?

Readin’ the SDMB one summer day
I came upon this thread and thought I’d play
I didn’t know if Monstre would approve
But I figured it was time to make my move

Bravo, Sternvogel!

Actually, jjimm, I think this thread doesn’t really exist. But the concept of the thread does, at least in Zeldar’s mind. In mine too, I guess.

Poor thread has sat here for over two hours and nobody has said “Hi” to it.

“Hi,” thread.

Excellent point jjimm. We really should consult urbanlegends.com to see if it is real or not before this goes any further…

This thread, when doubled and redoubled upon itself, then threaded through and plied with a darning needle, has knit up the ravell’d sleave of care.

Yes, I said “sleave” – **Macbeth **II.ii. Yes, I always thought it was “sleeve” till I looked it up.

Thread’s Not Funny. ThreadShut Up.

Dear Thread,

Don’t pay any attention to Barrytown. He’s from Chicago. You know. Kind of like Chinatown-Midwest.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time over the last day thinking of you. I would be watching Animal Court, Judge Mathis, People’s Court, Judge Joe Brown, Texas Justice, Judge Judy or Style Court and suddenly it was as if you were calling to me.

I’m beginning to have mystical feelings about you. So I would appreciate it if you would think about responding to some of the following questions.

  1. Have you ever appeared in a Deepak Chopra book disguised as a thought?

  2. I know that we are not technically the same species, but would we be able to…well…you know, co-mingle?

  3. Are you what I lose when I lose my thread of thought? Or was that a train?

  4. Do you ever sort of “unravel”?

  5. Are you from “the land of cotton”?

Please send an 8 X 10 glossy.

This thread needs a good home. I nominate that it should be allowed to live here in peace.

I’m thinking of leaving this thread.

when come back bring pie

This thread is getting away from the original topic. Please try to keep this about this, not that.

This thread is a good demonstration of how differing opinions and value judgments can be brought to bear on anything. There doesn’t even need to be a topic or an idea to attack or defend. It’s in the nature of our beings that opinions get formed and values are assigned.

This thread began its existence with no position on any topic, but over time it appears to have incensed some, bored others, infuriated some, enticed others, caused joy for a few, stomach distress for a few others. All in all, this thread is a parable for what our society faces in terms of trying to locate a common ground by which all its members are treated fairly.

Yes, fellow Dopers, a casual glance at the responses to the notion of this thread have become the thread itself. It was just a place in cyberspace until we gave it its meaning, whatever that may be. Some see its meaning as fun, some as silly, some as worthy of respect, others as something to be banished from our sight.

This says virtually nothing about this thread. It say something about us and who we are and how we perceive new things.

Though the idea for this thread is certainly not new, and for some may even be old hat and passe’, it is worth considering that any topic, any issue, any religious or political position, not matter how valid or praiseworthy, is just the point of departure for us to reveal what makes us tick.

To the optimist this thread is a sign of people joining hands to create something from nothing. To the pessimist this thread represents another exercise in futility. To the fun-loving this thread is an opportunity to look into the nature of reality and poke fun at it.

Regardless of where each contributor to this thread was coming from, each contributor has made this thread what it is, and what it is not.

Sermon over. Now if we’ll all turn in our hymnals to number 244, we’ll sing about the rites of passage into dharmahood.

Selah

You don’t say the “selah,” it’s a pause! *
You made the baby thread cry over his burning dog caused by a 1920s style death set on “cat’s Breath Pie” stting.

  • yeah, I know you didn’t say it its only written. But, fyi for everyone else.

Plus, it allows some self mockery for this thread by having itself quote itself, thus making concrete what was only an immature construct.

“What is an immature construct?” you might ask…

Go ahead.

Ask.

Okay, good. An immature construct is a golem before puberty.

Well, you did ask.

Shouldn’t this thread be in the Pirates, Ninjas, and Stupid Cat Stories forum? Just asking. I know you won’t answer. Typical.

Rene Descartes was a druken fart. “I drink, therefore I am.”

NoClueBoy, you have rescued this thread from a nap. We all tend to doze off during sermons. At least all I have ever experienced, which is not “all” by any stretch. I’d like to have an accurate number to use instead of “all” so that you could evaluate whether my “all” is worth consideration, but I just have to estimate. That number is probably over 100 but less than 1,000,000. Maybe in the 30,000 range. Let’s see. If I meet a new person every day (on average) and have been around over 20,000 days that would make the 30,000 a fudge in the direction of more than one new person every day. Yeah. I’ll go with that.
