Gossiping about coworkers in order to seem important is a definition of “greasing the social gears” that I was referencing. And one that I don’t give a shit about.
To me, “treating people like people” and “trying not to be an asshole” includes “not gossiping about people” and should be the default.
But that’s me.

IIRC, the switch to vB was prompted by someone using UBB code to hack the board.
I wasn’t here in the '99 days, but I’m a 2000-er.
UBB and vB were very similar in function and layout at the time, so it wasn’t a hugely noticeable switch. The different version of vB have had a bigger effect than UBB->vB.
Well yeah, my official registry is March something 2000.
