Thomas Kinkade: The Movie

The term “friends” would imply that their opinions carried greater weight with you.

I would guess that most people who like his paintings will like the movie, and anyone who doesn’t like his paintings won’t see it.

I’m ashamed to say that I like Kinkade’s pictures on a non-ironic level. Even though it’s low-brow ribbon-candy kitschy campy crap that would hang in your grandmother’s house next to Billy the Bigmouth Bass. I like what Joan Didion (I think it was her, anyway) has said about his work: they always contain houses with ‘so-inviting-that-they’re-weirdly ominous’ glowing fires. Despite this, I would like to live in a Kinkade painting. Even though he’s apparently a right-wing nut.

I don’t know about that. Plenty of people like Peter O’Toole enough that they might get sucked into the vortex.

I’m a grandma and I would gouge my eyes out with a red-hot poker before I would voluntarily see this movie or even look at one of that man’s pictures.

I came into this thread wondering why there would be a movie about the manager of the Partridge Family… then I remembered that’s REUBEN KINCADE.

Carry on.
