I don’t know the Thor series very well. Who or what is the big alien dude at the end of the trailer that unleashes the blasts of energy from his face against the SHIELD agents?
I was kind of excited to see this. After viewing the trailer, though, I’m pretty underwhelmed.
The Destroyer
I thought their casual attitude about “some new weapons technology” was kinda funny.
classic Lee & Kirby part of the early Thor stories
I think they offered him some money.
Yeah, this is not going to go well…Thor is bombastic even by comic-book standards, anbd the trailer looks like a pretty straight-up adaptation. I predict a quickie 3D-release to juice the opening weekend gross (see: Titans, Clash of).
Now we’re really getting into the superheroes I know nothing about or have barely heard of.
I’m really over it. Please find a new trope to over-saturate the market with.
Maybe vampires!?
Okay, big-budget Asgard? I don’t care, I’m in. When’s the last time Norse gods got to rock a movie for a while?
Never happened. “You won’t like me when I’m Ang Lee.”
Re: The Thor trailer - I am surprised to find that it actually looks pretty good. Thor always seemed to me to be the one comic-book hero that was lamer than Aquaman.
Another Thor, dubbed from English - but only clip I could find
No wonder they didn’t get Ken Russell for the Avengers
That guy (Clark Gregg) actually has had a pretty good career going even before Iron Man. Nothing at that high a level, and the Marvel franchise work he’s getting has to be huge, but his IMDB page is pretty impressive. I think he’s most known for his starring role in “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”
I haven’t followed the Marvel movies since the first Iron Man, but I really liked that guy. Somehow in a relatively brief amount of screen time, much of which seemed to be spent sitting around waiting for Tony Stark and none of which involved big emotional scenes, he seemed more real than any of the other characters (not that I didn’t enjoy RDjr, of course). I wasn’t at all surprised to see that he had an extensive resume going in, and am happy to see he’s getting bigger and more high-profile roles since.
That trailer was way too sliced-and-diced for me to develop any clue about whether the movie will be any good. Will wait for early reviews before deciding whether to watch this one.
Between the crappy video quality and the horrible editing, I can’t make out too much of it. Can you even see Thor in costume?
Grumman’s link works, but I get the impression that it’s not the same as the trailer the OP was talking about (there’s mention on that page that it’s a “fan edit”).
The only message I got from the movie link was ‘This message has been removed by the request of the studio’, or somesuch.

There is? I’m not complaining if you’re right, but I didn’t notice any such mention.
At the end of the video it says “fanedit by editninja”.
Meanwhile, I had a thought about the costume. Everyone says it looks like rubber… What if it is? It looks like Thor is cast out of Asgard in disgrace, and I can’t imagine they’d have let him keep his real armor when they did so (presumably his real armor is the practical-looking banded mail when he’s asking “How many of our brethren have fallen?”). So when he signs up with S.H.I.E.L.D., he has them make him some new armor out of modern materials, but with Norse design elements. Bam, we end up with rubber-looking Thor armor, and it makes sense.
Oh, and I paused it on the scene with the equations in the notebook, and it looks like relatively straightforward relativistic kinematics, if anyone’s wondering. I’m not sure what Thor is doing reading physics notes, though.

Oh, I didn’t wait to see that. Thanks.
