Those of You Who Have Lives

I have kids, but when I’m not dealing with them and not at work, I do the following:

Read a lot, on different topics–I have some planned reading for brain exercise, and then also whatever looks interesting

Sewing is a big interest of mine–I make quilts, do heirloom sewing (a niche hobby for the truly nutty), embroider, produce ironic literary tote bags, all kinds of stuff

Am quite involved with church stuff

Every morning I walk/jog 3 miles with a friend

I have a monthly book club

Go hiking on local trails (OK, the kids come along on that one)

Hang out with friends in various ways

I like to bake! And at Christmas I dip chocolates on an industrial scale

If I had the $$ I’d travel, but I don’t.

Raw animals only… usually cut into manageable parts.

Garden variety food animals like mice and chickens, not other dogs and cats.:stuck_out_tongue:

I work full time, and then some. I take one or two tennis classes per week, and I play tennis with a buddy on Sundays. Usually, I’ll catch dinner with another friend sometime during the week or on the weekend.

The rest of my free time is spent talking to my long-distance girlfriend on the phone, watching sports, or running errands.

I have a house that is an attention whore which means I pay for the privilege of working on it. Beyond that I have hobbies. My hobbies come with friends (biking, flying, history etc…).

I would go so far as to say my hobbies are a major distraction. It’s impossible to stay at home and not get sucked into something interesting.

That is really hardcore to me, the Iams + some boiled chicken girl.
