The artist Chris Ripke decided to protest the murder of Theo van Gogh by painting a mural with the text “Thou shall not kill” on his own wall. A close by Mosque however deemed it offensive, and got the city council classify it as hate-speech and sand blast it away. A local journalist protesting was arrested and thrown in jail. “Thou shall not kill” offensive?! Fuck.

Rune, a group of friends - authors, poets, artists and directors - of Theo van Gogh, has asked the public to chalk “Thou shalt not kill” on the front of their house.
My neighbours and I did just that. [I had to buy chalk first. Who on earth uses chalk nowadays.]
I’m curious to see how many people dare to contribute such a small thing.

Though he later tried to retract when the comment got out of the closed mailing list it was posted to, saying it was unfortunate outsiders should read it, he still maintains Theo van Gogh deserved what he got.
