Threads you will not click on

I avoid any threads that do not include “belly fat” in the title.

How I got here, I haven’t a clue.

Two more I’ll steer clear of:

“Mass infanticide”. Nope. Not touching it.

“My girlfriend is ugly”. :dubious:

Anything in Great Debates or Thread Games, as those threads tend to be a time sink.

There’s a short list of posters whose threads I don’t bother clicking on. Interestingly, there’s quite a bit of overlap between those posters and the thread topics mentioned here by others.

I can’t seem to stay out of your “Pit” thread. I will say that there is no actual Pitting of you. It is a train wreck.

I wish I had your discipline. Some posters just get my “something’s wrong on the Internet” twitch going, and I can’t help myself. :frowning:

I try to avoid most of the ‘my pet has died’ ones, because I’m such a softie when it comes to pets and since I mostly read the board at work, it disturbs the employees when they see the HR lady has been crying. They see pink slips in their immediate future. lol

I also avoid anything having to do with alternate sexual preferences (gay, S&M, etc.). I have nothing pertinent to add, and the issues are usually highly charged and opinions that differ from that of the OP are usually not welcome.

Threads about tuna salad (ugh) or video games. The temptation to thread shit is just too great. Unlike Fairychatmom, I’m fascinated with TMI and sex threads. Also love the discussions of hot looking tattoos.

Threads with titles like this:

WOW this is so amazing !

Even if they are posted by a Moderator

Grammar questions.
Questions about whether a particular word or phrase is “offensive”.
Racial topics.
Arguments about which athlete deserves a particular award or membership in the Hall of Fame. (I like sports but find it impossible to care about this.)
Political debates starting from extremely unlikely premises. (If Biden gets creamed by a meteor next week, whom will Obama nominate as a replacement?)
Threads about whether the Civil War was about slavery (done not just to death, but dragged through every pit of hell multiple times).

I thank you for the perseverance. Don’t get too involved, that poster is a master manipulator.

I honestly believe that no one could accidentally hit all of our ignorance fighting buttons so consistently. You can watch him probe with absurd posts until he hits a nerve and gets the attention he craves.

I saw something today that reminded me of another… any abortion threads that have lots of lengthy and bloviating replies by men. Just. No.

Stupid long-ass hypotheticals.

“Does this make me XXX-ist?”

Any thread about “chili recipes.”

Serious chili makers do NOT USE RECIPES.

Same here. Also, typos in the thread title tend to discourage me. And I’m probably the worst offender!

Funny, I will almost always click on locked threads just to see what went down.

Threads with a question in the thread title that presumes general agreement with OP’s opinion particularly with regard to controversial topics. Threads posed as a question that are obviously just a statement of the OP’s opinion. Most of these threads are about politics. Threads that invite dozens of pages of hairsplitting debate over trivialities or semantics. Threads about other threads, modding, junior modding, etc. (discussion forum politics). That’s all I can think of for now although I skip most threads.

Yes. Then I get irritated that I can’t add anything to the thread.

To the list of threads I wish I had not clicked on we can add, “Would you shoot a woman with her 4 day old baby next to her.” Not so much about the shooting, which sucked I grant you, but about the inevitable descent into a gun control squabble. :smack:

“Horizontal butthole”
