Threads you will not click on

I have noticed myself avoiding certain thread titles recently. “The World’s Largest Maxi Pad” is my current bugaboo. I’m fairly sure that I’ll regret it if I look, but it won’t go away. Sooner or later it will get me.

The Piers Anthony thread and the Hairy Nipples are two that I really wish I had NOT clicked on.

How about you: any topics or thread titles that make you cringe? Do you click or not click when that happens?

This one.

Shit.

ETA: Figure I’d answer honestly as well.

I browse the SDMB at work between tasks. So I don’t click any NSFW or borderline-NSFW topics.

“Were you born with hairy nipples?” or something like that. Uh-uh. Not clicking.

Although it sounds like it would make for a good prank call. “I’m looking for a Mr. Nipples. First name of Harry.”

“Hey, guys. I’m looking for Harry Nipples.”

Anything about bodily functions.
Anything about people’s genitals.
Anything about pigeon eggs.

Car stuff. I don’t own a car, I don’t even have a driver’s licence, I’m totally uninterested in the mechanical/electronic stuff under the hood.
American politics (NN said this or that, is NN eligible for office, did NN violate the rules of the umpteenth amendment) also makes me yawn.

People’s boyfriend/girlfriend problems.

I generally stay out of Great Debates or Elections or The Pit unless I am SUPER bored…which seems to be often enough.

But yeah, I’ve so far steered clear of the maxi pad one as well. And the hairy nipple one is normally something I would have avoided, but I didn’t. It’s actually not too bad. Though I have yet to check it again today.

Also, I tend to avoid threads that are already like 4+ pages deep if I haven’t already peeked at them earlier. Unless the topic is an interesting one. Or again, if I’m REALLY bored.

There was one awhile back that was something like “Things you have seen that you wish you could unsee” that I remember thinking “No thanks”. Anything that I think is going to include descriptions of violence/horrible accidents (especially to little kids and pets), I don’t want to see it.

I wish I had your wisdom. I have train wreck syndrome and there are many things I wish I didn’t know about that I forever will.

I avoid any threads, however, mentioning bodily grossness like pimples or farts.

I skip nearly all “Celebrity Jones has died” threads.

Many of 'em, I don’t know anyway. But even the ones I did know…what can anyone say? They’re gone, we loved 'em, life is sad, so it goes.

Also the ones specifically about health issues. “My diverticulitis is worse since I had my pancreas removed…” Uh… I can’t think of anything whatever to say, and I don’t really give a rat’s patootie. Hope you get better.

Almost any post that opens with, “Ha ha.” That kind of crowing turns me off. Try being a good winner as well as being a good loser.

Any thread with the title “[politician name] says/does [totally outrageous thing with no context.]”

Pimple popping.

I will not click on anything with my name in the title.

There were several in close proximity a while back, one of which I started. Sorry! :o

Yep, gross stuff is the one that gets my vote. Ugh.

Game threads. Celebrities whose name I don’t recognise. Sexual Identity threads. Most food threads. Race-baiting bullshit.

I’m usually looking for a laugh, or a rant I already agree with. Otherwise I hang out in Cafe Society to talk about TV and movies.

Let’s see. I don’t tend to visit the Game Room, or Thread Games (since the Feud went away), or Marketplace, so threads that start there are no-brainers for me.

If I suspect it’s another gun control or abortion thread, I steer clear. In Cafe Society, I stay away from threads about shows I don’t watch, particularly if the shows are on premium channels. Also, I’m not interested in hard rock, or the musicians who play it, so those threads are right out.

You should. It’s fun.

I don’t click on anything to do with guns, religion, or American politics.

I also avoid pet death threads.

I completely avoid the “Elections” sub-forum: being not American, apolitical, and of the “ostrich” school of thought re current affairs.

TMI
Bodily functions
Sex questions - tho these tend to fall under TMI most of the time, and I honestly don’t get why some folks are so obsessed with the sex lives of others.
Religion and politics
Threads started by certain individuals - after 2 or 3, you get to realize that the poster is a one-trick pony.

I don’t go into games or GD, and rarely look in elections or the pit.

For the most part, I come here to relax, share some mindless chatter, and not get all riled up about stuff.
