It’s a new year! And for me, frankly the old year kinda sucked. But I’m trying to count my blessings and remind myself of them. So who’s up for a round of “three good things”? List three good things in your life today. Mine:
The weather is gorgeous, though not at all wintery. Sunny and warm.
I heard from a dear old friend yesterday after a few years of no contact and we had a chance to catch up.
My genetic test for the breast cancer gene my mother carries came back negative. I had a 50-50 chance of inheriting it and the coin flipped the right way for me. I’m very grateful.
It’s (my) Wednesday, so I’ve survived 1/2 of the week already!
I got an e-mail from Korea; unexpected money coming from our publisher… GREAT timing (money a bit tight right now)!
Tickets to see the Blue Man Group here in SD on Friday night are more than wifey and I want to pay… so instead we’re gonna spend a weekend in Vegas sometime in the next few months, and see them there!
The weather is nice enough outside that I actually got to wear something cute.
I went to the Y this morning – very proud of myself for actually being motivated.
My kids were super-mega-awesome about getting up and ready for school this morning. We had no fighting, no yelling, no irritations, only good mornings and smiles! For those of you without teenagers, this is a good thing.
I have been making to-do lists, and doing things off of them.
I have new books to read
I just made an awesome and spur-of-the-moment spinach salad for lunch. With the bonus that this was the first time I’ve gone through all of my spinach before any went bad!
[ol][li]I start my new job Monday - big raise, working from home.[]My daughter had her first ski race today, and bettered her time on her second run[]One of our favorite Dopers had the genetic test for the breast cancer gene her mother carries come back negative. She had a 50-50 chance of inheriting it and the coin flipped the right way for her. We’re very grateful. [/ol][/li]Regards,
Shodan
I didn’t have to wear my winter jacket today - it was a balmy 12C.
I just finished a delicious roast beef sandwich with arugula and mustard on toasted sourdough - not bad for a last minute dinner I scrounged up out of leftovers.
I got a glowing year-end performance review from my boss - it’ll definitely earn me a great raise, and could potentially even earn me a promotion if I play my cards right.
I’m going to Alberta from Nova Scotia on Friday with my two best friends.
My chem lab instructor is much, much smarter than last semester’s.
I got a compliment today on my fabulous* coat.
Very few people other than me think it’s fabulous. It’s a woolen* old lady*** coat with a mink collar that I bought last year ($4) for a play. I fought with the props manager for a month to get her to let me keep it, since she wanted to harvest the collar for herself. It has history!
**I’m allergic to wool, which many haters think it a great reason to give up The Coat. They don’t understand the power of long sleeves underneath.
My SO moved in 4 months ago after a 3-year-long online long-distance relationship, and we are getting along extremely well and are very happy.
SO won his fantasy football league, netting him over $800, which he is putting toward a much-wanted car. I’m 4-0 on my office’s NFL playoffs pool, in a three-way tie for first place.
My workload more than doubled a couple weeks ago, but it hasn’t killed me. Yet.
Bonus: I am having tasty delicious omg nachos for dinner.
