Southwest Missouri man under scrutiny in fatal shooting of three at Johnson County Jewish centers
April 13 The Kansas City Star Three people died Sunday when a gunman opened fire outside the Jewish Community Center and a senior living facility in Johnson County.
Police arrested the suspected shooter, a man in his 70s with a beard, outside Valley Park Elementary nearby by 2:45 p.m. He smiled and reportedly made anti-Semitic statements as he was led away. Police said the man, who was not from Kansas, used a shotgun in the slayings at the Jewish Community Center. He also had a handgun when he was arrested.
That line about it being “too early” was in the very first edition of the story as it was posted yesterday evening. That line should have been edited out of the version I quoted, which was only a few minutes ago. Obviously that point is no longer in question.

That place is only about 2 miles from my house and we have visited often. I dont know the people killed personally but I know people who did know them and its being talked about all over our community. I understand the boy was a popular local high school student. Nobody killed was Jewish.
Before someone starts jumping on crazy, bigoted people from Kansas, this idiot who did the shooting was from Aurora Missouri which is a 184 miles or about 2 1/2 hours drive south of here. It further has locals mad because he drives up here to do his sh*t. He was a known kkk member with a history of anti-semitism. I have driven thru the area he is from and its pretty white trash.
That Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City is a true community center where people and families of all kinds use its wonderful athletic facilities, attend camps there, and see shows at its theater. Frankly you would hardly know its even Jewish connected. My own kids played baseball there.
Yesterday, sunday the 14th was a cold rainy day. That was a GOOD thing because where he did the shooting was right next to a playground and the baseball fields which would have been full of kids if the weather had been good.
According to an article I read, he ran for office specifically because federal election laws then forced broadcasters to air his racist, anti-Semitic campaign ads whether they wanted to or not, and at a discounted rate. So the whole thing was essentially a giant attention whoring stunt.
Yeah, growing up in a heavily Jewish place (Maryland), the JCC (or just ‘the J’) was pretty much like the YMCA (‘the Y’). A place where you went to swim or play racquetball, and your kids went to summer camp, and there was no requirement that you be Jewish to go there, any more than you had to be Christian to play pickup basketball at the Y.
The Aryan Brotherhood and other white prison gangs are arrangements of convenience, not bastions of ideological purity. Most of them aren’t going to care.
So…not only is this jerk a member of the lowest form of human scum, he’s willing to sell out members of his own so-called brotherhood? What kind of bargain did he make??

It’s very close to where we live too, and I’ve even worked out at the facilities there. I drove by there today and the news trucks were all over the place still.
I used to play tennis on one of the this JCC’s tennis teams, about 15 years ago. I’m a Pakistani-American, and quite a few of our opponents thought it was funny to say, “You don’t look Jewish.” A few of my co-workers would ask why I wanted to hang out with a bunch of Jews.
