Three people using "CalMeacham" is the same as one person having multiple socks.

Facky wucker?

Fucking wanker?

Now that makes sense…that’s the last time I let the idiot alter-ego post.
If you’re one person using three screen names and CalMeacham is three people using one screen name, doesn’t it all even out?
See, that’s what bugs me about the thread title. He says that three people using one account is the same as one person having three accounts. But it isn’t the same. It’s the exact opposite. How can things that are opposite be the same? What kind of a doofus would say they were the same? I hate this.

I dunno, I preferred your version.

I kinda like the cutesy “Chloedaughter” designations, myself. I refer to mine as “Pepper Mill” and “MilliCal” (a combination of “CalMeacham” and “Pepper Mill”) to be original. And I figure that, if I use 'em enough, people will know who they are.

Or pick them up from context.

Another mod speaks.

ROTFL!
This is kinda OT, but related. Cal, I have nothing against you (and I’m sure you don’t know me from Adam/Eve), but it does get a little … oh, not annoying, it doesn’t even rise to that level, let’s just say mildly cloying?.. when you refer to Pepper Mill in posts (e.g. “Pepper Mill was walking past” or “Pepper Mill and I…”) as if we’re all supposed to know who the heck she is. If she was a member ‘briefly’, most of us probably don’t know her. Even fewer may know she’s your wife. Isn’t it clearer and shorter to just say “My wife”? OTOH, if it’s on topic, for example if people are asking about families on the SDMB, that’s a different story.

It’s not a big deal, and I don’t mean to sound like a harriden, even though this is the Pit. It’s just that this shtick always makes my teeth hurt, no matter who it comes from. I frequent TelevisionWithoutPity, for example, and those forums are filled with people saying the equivalent of “Oh I was watching Food Network and HusbandOfChoie happened to walk by and said the funniest thing about Rachael Ray!” or “Two-year-old ChoieDaughter thinks Katherine Heigl’s knees are hideous too!” Why not just say “My husband” or “my kid”? Yuck. The cutesy, it burns.
It’s not so much cutesy, but there’s a world of difference, IMNSHO, between a title and a name. Even if the name is simply ground out of the relevant poster’s name. I’ve read, and enjoyed, some of the stories that CalMeacham has posted about MilliCal. I’ve also enjoyed a number of other nicknames that posters have used to describe people with whom they live their lives. Ranging from the positive, like IvyLass’s IvyLad, to the negative of TuckerFan’s Pete Puma.

Call me cutesy, if you must* but I just prefer for people to have names, rather than titles.

*As a self-confessed Otaku, I suspect I may have to plead guilty to a certain level of cutesiness, anyways…

I hate it. HATE it hate it hate it. Not only is it overly cutesy and irritating like you said, but it’s off-putting to newcomers and reinforces a cliquish mentality around this place. If I was a new member and I saw this guy referencing all these other people with made-up names, I’d have no idea what he was talking about. Who?!

While he’s at it, TLDRIDKJKLOLFTW should do something about his user name. I hate it. HATE it hate it hate it. That will never stop being funny.

I’m just curious if the OP has actually read any posts by CalMeacham, or if his rant is based on what little he could discern by hovering his mouse over the threads for a few seconds.

6.) The Dope Board as a site for molesters? It seems unlikely. And we keep an eye on the threads she’s been involved in.

I just stumbled across this. I’m surprised and flattered and amazed.

Having met the entire MillMeacham family, including your daughter, I have to say, I was surprised, to say the least, that you were the topic of a pitting.

I personally don’t understand why it’s a big deal to mention a past member by name in threads. Other halves of couples mention their SOs by Doper name frequently, whether or not they are active.

In general I find it irksome as well, on a board or in life. For example, I’m talking to my best friend about my sister Sally. He knows I have a sister Sally but doesn’t know her personally, so I would refer to her in conversation as “my sister” and not “Sally”- just a personal preference I guess. And its doubly annoying when someone refers to something Bob did and you have no idea who the hell Bob is- husband, granpappy, whatever.

As long an nobody refers to their husband as “DH” as on some of my other boards, I’m thrilled.
