Hi, I am very, very new here, and would like to start my straight dopedom by asking a health related question.
I am a normal sixteen year old teen who is of above average intelligence, and hence, do not exercise very much. I was wondering if this is the source of my ‘problem’. You see, lately, while I’m going about my everyday life, like studying or watching tv, one or more of my body parts start to throb. I mean, suddenly, while I’m looking at the tv screen, I feel like my bicep is throbbing, or while I’m revising my work, my calve muscle would just suddenly go, throb, throb, throb, just like that. I cannot control my muscle to stop doing it, and I have no choice but to ignore it and continue doing my work. I do not feel pain or anything, the muscle just goes contracting and relaxing like nobody’s business.
Can anybody tell me if there is anything wrong with me?
Happens to me all the time. It feels like my blood is bubbling through an artery (which it probably isn’t), or a muscle is spasming really fast. I’m 19 and it’s been happening since my early teens.
It’s of no concern. I think it happens to most people on occasion. My guess is just that it’s a depolarization of the muscle for one reason or another. I’ve experienced this phenomenon for years and it seems to appear, happen on occasion for a few days, and disappear. Once it happened on my lip and I looked like Elvis for the better part of the day.
That happens alot to me also…wonder what causes it.
Alot sometimes I have a major shift internally it feels like from something seemingly at random, like usually a very odd feeling going up my spine and thru my neck/jaw, usually making it very distracting and bothering me so much it’s impossible to concentrate on anything else, sorta stops me from swallowing or breathing mostly until it passes.
Also, on numerous occasions if sitting on my knees for some reason (going thru low-height cupboard for example and have a very strong shifting feeling going thru entire body, my left foot in particular suddenly starts cramping up severely, feeling like it’s being crushed internally until I put it firmly flat on the ground.
Also have very noticeable and painful throbbing in my head when I have even just a minor headache, which makes it worse…feels like my skull is too small for my brain
I’ve you’ve seen the Resident Evil movie, and paying attention to a certain characters arm during one part he is having noticeable (visible) problem with his arm visibly having what looks like muscle spasms that distracts him several times, and it was mentioned in one of the commentary tracks on the special edition dvd That level of problem has happened several times that I can remember personally.
What exactly are you saying here? People of above-average intelligence are all flabby and weak? Only congenital idiots exercise? Please use that above-average intelligence of yours before making silly-sounding statements like the one above.

assuming that the OP is indeed a sixteen year old from singapore, considering the context of many secondary schools here; between school, tuition, homework, friends, tv and the pc - there is precious little time for sports and such. while that was indeed very poorly worded, it is sinfully easy to draw the conclusion that those who spend any decent amount of time in sports will lag behind the many who is dedicated to the grades and the examination.
nevertheless, grades are not proportionate to intelligence.

as for the throbbing body parts, i’ve had experienced them too.
because we don’t know everything, there will always be a reasonable doubt.
Throbbing like a repeated muscle twitch or spasm? I’ve had those… not so much in arms, but eyelids, legs, etc. I’ve always been told it can mean a potassium deficiency. Eat bananas.
