THUNDER and LIGHTNING

So…what did your parents/parental figures/gaurdians tell you thunder and lightening was? I remeber stories of bowling giants and angry omnipitant beings…just curious. Or what have you told your own kids?
(this whole bowling angry giant thing led to complications later when my dad thought it would be fun to plant beans in our backyard…i made him get up in the middle of the night and dig them up, cause i didn’t want to be jack and have bowling giants chasing me)

My mother explained that clouds banged together. Thunder was the sound they made and lightning was like the spark you get from striking flint.

I’ve been married for almost 20 years and Mrs. Kunilou continues to ask why I’m not more screwed up than I obviously am.

I was told that God was moving his furniture around (thunder) and plugging his lamps back in(lightning).

My father is a very scientific man. As far back as I can remember, he’s always explained things the way they are. No strange explanation.

A woman teaching Sunday School at our local church, told all the children that lightning was God taking a picture of them. I this was extremely stupid. Every time there’s a thunderstorm, all the kids will end up running outside and smiling up at the sky.

If your parents also told you that rain was him throwing out the mop water, I think we may be related!

My parents told me it was the angels moving their furniture around. Although on one memorable Sunday afternoon, they told me it was raining because God was crying over us because we didn’t go to Church.

I always was told Thunder was the “echo” of Lightning off the hillsides. (I lived in the plains states, with no hills.)

This made no sense, but I believed it until 5th grade, when a science teacher decided to elaborate.
