Fairly long read. If you read the first page or two and it doesn’t hold your interest, don’t bother to finish because you probably won’t like it. You may not like the ending, but most of the story gave me a good creep out feeling, so if you’re into that sort of thing, feel free.
Don’t read the spoiler if you plan to read the whole thing.
Obvious hoax, right? Here’s something I wonder about. In one of the pictures, there’s a very dim picture into the “room” in the cave with the round rock. He takes special care to note and highlight it. If someone were just writing up a spooky hoax story, that sort of detail wouldn’t really cross their minds, I’d imagine.
The fact that that picture is up there and given such emphasis makes me think that it could be genuine… a guy writing a story/hoax wouldn’t think to add something like that, but a guy who was freaked out, who that rock meant a big deal to, could make the effort to highlight it in very dim and subtle pictures. Of course, a clever hoaxer could think that such a thing would spur just this sort of analysis, but I dunno…
Easy to dismiss the story - unsatisfying and predictable ending, I thought, but I was creeped out through the first 3/4ths of the story, so it was fun to read. The only thing that has me thinking is… if it’s a hoax, is the inclusion of that picture with that emphasis a very clever part of the hoax, or…?
