Hello! I see that we already have some delicious desserts coming. How about if I bring a lovely fruit salad and some dip? Will there be booze at this party? I’m hoping yes! Let me know if I should bring beer or a bottle of something. Have a great day, and the thought of a fun picnic really picked me up
!
Laundry done, dishes washed, and as an added bonus ran a cleaning solution through the disposal, which filled my sink with a blue foam for a bit, so it has been a good afternoon. And the contractor got back with me, so now I have some shopping to do in the next 8-10 days before I leave for vacation.
2pat, I think for a crowd like this we’ll need at least 99 bottles of beer on the wall…
The Pistachio pudding recipe with cottage cheese, cool whip, pineapple and walnuts was always a big hit.
(bolding mine)
I would expect nothing less, Taters.
Just in case you want to know, heh, heh, I have swampie’s snail mail address. I send him a Christmas card each year.
I’ll bring beer and cookies. He’s already got a guy.
Well, I survived being poked, from both ends, actually. I figgered that while I was laid out on the table, so to speak, they should have a peek down my throat and stretch out my Schatzky ring, 'cause I’ve been having trouble swallowing.
They did my throat first, by the way.
Anyway, on to the shindig. Whenever it’s a family gathering, we’re always ‘requested’ to bring my world famous impossible coconut pie.
Like Taters, I also make a damn fine cheesecake, but never do 'cause the ingreedyments are too bloody expensive for something that’s going to be inhaled in about 15 seconds.
I can also bring a bottle of homemade, 180 proof, limoncello, for them’s that like that sort of thing. I have a laboratory beaker* and a wine bottle full of it in my fridge even as we speak.
*It’s actually a teardrop shaped glass bottle of about 1/2 gallon capacity with markings up the sides. I bought a bunch of them about 40 years ago, but my first wife hated them and threw them all away when I wasn’t looking.
My one remaining example somehow escaped her purge, however.
She had an unfortunate habit of quietly disposing of anything she disapproved of without consulting me. Just one of the many reasons I eventually divorced her.
There. Now, aren’t you glad you asked?
Happy Moonday!
It’s cool and rainy outside.
It’s been a busy day and mostly irritatiing.
I had to make a lot of phone calls where I had to talk to people instead of pushing buttons, and that is aways annoying.
Usually I am the deviled egg, pasta salad person but since they are already covered, I’ll bake a ham.
If I’m feeling really ambitious I could bring black-bottoms, which is a type of cupcake (well I make them cupcake size).
Once when I made black bottoms niece number 2 asked her then bf if he liked black bottoms. He looked rather confused and said no, he preferred white bottoms,
Howdy Y’all! We have supped and all is good. I got in some quality cee-mint pond time after spiffin’ da cave. Now it’s cloudy out and looks like it might rain. Or not.
I could pretend fire up the smoker and pretend smoke some Boston <snerk> Butts! <snerk> and chikin for the pretend soiree.
**Cupcakes **- I have swampy’s snail mail addy also. I got it when I sent him one of my early ceramic works, then later, he got a special gift that my sister crafted.
Speaking of which, **swampster **- do you still have that magnificent masterpiece??
Our replacement credit cards arrived today - huzzah! I changed all the accounts that needed changing. It’s a relief to have it. Not only is it an easy way to manage our budget, we get cash back every October, and it’s a significant amount, especially considering we don’t pay any interest on the account.
Regarding our pretend picnic - I vote for lots of cheesecake! Me like cheesecake!
Home and exhausted. I have already tooK my sleep medicine and hope I can get to sleep earlier than 3 AM.
Supper shall be forage or do without. It matters not to me. I am having the one lonesome beer that was in the fridge. There is probably more down in the new beer fridge but that’s too much work to go see.
BLURFAGE
{{{swampy and Miss Maxine’s family}}}
Will this be in the summer? I would volunteer chocolate layer cake, but it doesn’t travel well in the warmer months. We seem to have enough salads, but I would stop at the local farmer’s market for fresh 'maters and sweet corn and pack a bottle of Tennessee whiskey to add to the lemonade.
Irk was irksome. The issue I had accessing my wage and tax statements Friday were still there today. I tried submitting an HR ticket to get it fixed, but found that when I logged onto another desktop running Windows 7 rather than the one with 10 on my desk, I could access it. The HR ticket wasn’t user friendly, so I used the phone number provided. The rep that I got there passed me on to IT. IT couldn’t fix it remotely, so a guy will be there tomorrow sometime to do it in person.
sounds good to me!
I make something like that, but with sour cream rather than mayonnaise.
You’re British, aren’t you?
Worked, came home, napped. made spicy pork stir fry with soba noodles for dinner. I’d make my cheddar ham cornbread for the pool party.
And I’ll bring some Mason jars.![]()
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up way early and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark actually) with a predicted high of 86 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. I awoke to the call of nature and decided to stay up bein’ as the bug guy is comin’ at eight this mornin’ and I was afraid if’n I did go back to sleep it’d be after seven when I woke again. Fortunately OYKW spent the night at his place bein’ as he has an early mornin’ home visit to make which is close to his place, poor thing. Anywho, I have a dr. appointment (the vampires shall attack!) and then will N.O.L. with some friends. Today is also laundry day so I have a load in the washer as I post. Rah. I shall go over to the church house around four to assist with makin’ sure the candles are all oiled up. Actually we use paraffin, which is kinda oil and kinda not. We shall swipe The General’s victuals for sup tonight. I should be busy enough to keep outta trouble today, so there’s that.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, I suppose I should purtify and don clothin’ appropriate for bein’ about the public. Bother!
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.
Good morning!
swampy, I was dreaming that you were telling me all about your daddy, who was a FOUR STAR ADMIRAL!! I didn’t know he was in the Navy! Plus he wrote a book and you were just about to tell me about the book when my alarm went off. So, what was the book about?
How weird is it to wake in June to temps in the 50s?? It makes for great sleeping, but still, weird. We are promised sun for the next few days - I may go home and mow the front lawn again. I’ve told my daughter I want them to be responsible for dinner on Tues and Thurs night, so I get a break from kitchen duty today.
Happy Tuesday!!
Mornin’ all.
First shift at pub was kinda funny- it was soo quiet. Freakishly quiet. Nothing to do. It’s probably because it’s very close to the county showground and it’d been crazy busy while the show was on. I reckon most of the locals were either at home recovering, or going somewhere further away because they finally can, the roads have been gridlocked for days round there.
It seems a nice enough place, mainly regulars, at least until tourist season proper starts. I’m there again tonight, hopefully there’ll be more to do!
Happy Toosday!
It’s a cloudy 54 degrees outside, supposed to get up to the low 70s today.
Kind of a irritating morning, windows updated overnight and was still running this morning, I stupidy agreed to use edge as my browser, that lasted all of about 3 seconds. Then real player updated and kept trying to get me to buy an exhanced version. Then firefox refreshed, I hate that fucking word, refreshed. I hate when people refer to their closets and cabinets as ‘real estate’ amd when they refer to reorganizing a cabinet or throwing some new throw pillows on the couch as ‘refreshing’.
Why people can’t call something what it is and stop trying to make it sound like something more… damned pretentious and annoying.
Also annoying that since my puter was down I had to call in to log into irk this morning. Their call in menu is the most damned irritating process. It used to be simple, then the system was enhanced, whatever.
Now I am back on chrome and all is well with the world.
Speaking of asshole systems. Yesterday I tried to log into my bank using my phone. I forgot my password so I hit the forgot password key. In order to continue I had to enter some other info, one of which was my birthdate. I couldn’t enter my birthdate, it brought up a calendar and I had to click backwards to the correct month and click on the day. All well and good, except I also had to select the year, which meant I had to click backwards month by month until I got to the correct year. I am 61 years old and there are 12 months in a year, which means I would have had to click that damned button 732 times. I think not, so I had to go through the computer to get my password, then back to the phone to deposit a check.
So FCM does that mean it will be pizza on Toosdays and take out Chinese on Thorsdays?
Or the other way around?
