Holy Spittle, it’s been five years. I remember – smacks dentures – that fateful day they made you a mod way back when. I thought: “Nah, too rational, too levelheaded, she’ll never last.” And see, I was right – just took a while.

Well, I really can’t say strongly enough how sorry I am to see Veb go. She’s been a mod here for almost as long as I’ve been a poster, and she’s probably the one I spent the most time trying to emulate when I started this gig. She did a tough job well for a long, long time. Since she’s (hopefully) sticking around as a poster, there’s no need for farewells, but now that I know what the job involves, I can say without exaggeration that she really deserves more recognition and appreciation for her work here than I can give.

It’s a sign that I’ve been here a while when most of the people I think of as “the new mods” are retired - Arnold, Uncle Beer, Veb and Coldfire. Only Arnold was an obvious pick to me at the time, but they all did well.
