That can be deliberate. It’s Miniature Faking.
The player was Mike Rabelo of the 2006 Detroit Tigers. He didn’t look smaller, just plastic.
Hey, at least she cured “boolying”.
Maybe I don’t follow the correct batshit-insane right-wing sources that you do, but no one is saying it’s any kind of deal at all, except for something to laugh about.
What the actual fuck?
The cite I used (and where I saw the story) was that bastion of alt-right thinking, the BBC.
If you are going to take personal potshots, choose better targets.
Maybe you should read for comprehension, you right-wing moron. They were just commenting on how odd the picture is and referring to a tweet making a joke about it, just like I said.
Then you talk about hoping it’s not some sinister plot by Biden, while saying “no one is saying it’s a huge deal.” It’s not “a deal” at all, just something to laugh about.
You’re precious when you’re angry.
Thanks! You’re a gullible idiot who gets stupider with each passing day. Why a Canadian would get so sucked in to American right-wing bullshit is beyond me.
I mean, seriously, your suggestion that it’s even a possibility that this picture was taken this way to make Biden look more manly is some real Trump-level bullshit. You really should evaluate your news consumption, or maybe see a neurologist about impending dementia or paranoid delusions.
“There porposly making Bidins hands look bigerest to make fun of Glorious Leader TRUMP!”
Try that Sam.
Canadians are humans and humans everywhere are dumb.
Also there is Alberta, aka North Texas.
Kinda like how you constantly come across as an imbecile to make the rest of us look like geniuses?
In theory any distortion is “correctable”, but I question that it’s “easily correctable” in this case. The problem is that any reverse distortion in Photoshop is going to be geometrically flat, whereas this distortion is heavily influenced by distance from the camera. Any corrections would have to be painstakingly manual, focusing on individual picture elements. It can be done, but wouldn’t be perfect. I would have used a normal lens of at least 50mm effective FL (portrait lenses are typically 85mm or more to avoid this sort of crap) and, if not possible to get the whole scene in one frame, I would have either published them as two pics side by side or stitched them together in Photoshop.
Yup, you are right. I was a bit too flip in saying it was ‘easily’ correctable. I thought the new Photoshop 3D lens correction stuff would do it, but after thinking about what you wrote of course you are correct. Without the original 3D information, there’s no way to know what the correct proportions should be.
I did play around with the image for about 15 minutes and managed to a passable re-sizing of Joe Biden by simply masking him, copying, then doing a content-aware fill behind him to eliminate him from the scene, then paste him back in and resize. I’m confident that if I spent an hour or two on it I could make it loo a hell of a lot better. But then you get into issues regarding heavily modifying the photo of a president. People would detect the Photoshop work and probably bitch about ‘changing history’ or some stupid thing. So I get why they didn’t do it.
Also, Jill Biden is much harder because she partially obscures a painting, and there’s no way to know what the fill should look like. A real Photoshop artist could probably fix the photo up, but it’s not easy. So good call on that. I should have thought about it a bit more.
I’m fairly confident that you have never looked like a genius, with help or without.
One out of two ain’t bad.
Jesus, dude. Calm the hell down. I was just musing aloud. Like, “How did they miss this? It couldn’t be intentional, could it? Nah… It must be a screwup. But how did no one catch it?”
That’s all. No partisanship intended. This isn’t Biden’s fault. It’s just a fuck-up by a photographer. And it wouldn’t be his fault even if some overzealous production monkey decided to make him look more heroic or something. Not that I think that happened, but the error was pretty in your face and made me wonder about the process behind it.
Now take your meds and go lie down before you get spittle all over your keyboard.
Your musing was incredibly stupid. Forget partisanship, what idiot would think making someone look like a freakish giant would improve their image?
You weren’t “musing aloud” like you muttered an idle thought while raking leaves, you posted it on a message board. It was incredibly stupid whatever your motives were. You deserve the criticism.
On NBC News, they recreated the photo with members of their staff. The lens and camera angles, plus the Carter’s are kind of small people, partly due to age.
But I think Biden should work with that trick and stage photos where his hands look HUGE, like giant hands. It would be hysterical.
What’s all the hate on the Carter photo?
They look adorable!
Too bad if Martin Scrocese couldn’t have done some depth of field stuff with it. Maybe them sitting on the Bidens’ laps?
Or if Major and the other one were in the photo, flanking them, but looking much larger than both couples.
