In reply to SPOOFE’s post:
1. What are you trying to prove, and why?
-He has nothing to prove. He doesn’t care if anyone proves anything or not, that’s not the point. The point is, as for any troll, the attention. The interaction.
A troll like Piper/Seethruart is typically a lonely individual, neither physically nor socially active. People like this turn to the 'net for attention, but lack anything approaching the ability to gain and hold that attention by more acceptable means; polite discussion, being witty and/or funny, writing well, etcetera.
Instead, all they can do is get people angry- anything will do: challenge religious beliefs, make wild accusations to prominent individuals, or, as in this case, they take up a ‘cause’ that has a lot of both opponents and proponents, and take the side against whichever side holds the largest group.
2. How does your “evidence” show this?
-Of course it doesn’t, and Pipes doesn’t care. If it gets you to read his site, see his photos and most importantly, pay attention to him, that is the important part. The more wild his “photos” get, the more people jump in and try to prove his proof is bogus, which boils down to simply more attention for him.
3. Why are you more credible than NASA? Why should we take your word for all this?
-If he answered, it would burst his own bubble. His psychology is such that, he can’t face this sort of reasoning- his mindset is such that he must at least sorta-kinda believe what he’s saying in order to keep up appearances. So all he does- really, all he needs to do- is just deny, deny, deny, and- without actually answering any question directly- accuse his accusers of… well, anything. I’ve watched him- and yes, argued with him- at BadAstro’s board, and I have never once seen him directly reply to a question.
“That’s a rock.”
‘You’re just in denial of the truth!’
“That’s not a rock?”
‘NASA is covering up an alien civilization!’
“So that’s an alien rock?”
‘I’m the only one that can see the Truth!’
Yadda yadda and so forth.
4. Why would we “fear” your supposed “truth”?
-Fear. If anything, Pipes fears people will stop paying attention to him, that his efforts will have been wasted- or, more accurately, more wasted than they already are- and he’ll be back to just some lonely guy with a keyboard.
His fear, indeed, will drive him- HAS driven him- to reply to statements such as the above, with fanciful declarations that he has a “rich family life” and that he has a “fulfilling job”… geez, and he’s probably a respected member of the community, a PTA chair, and running for mayor too, I suppose.
To the contrary, he’s stated that Phil- the Bad Astronomer- will somehow be crushed under the immense realization of Piper’s Truth, and will shortly be flipping burgers at a fast food joint. What that tells me is that Piper himself very likely either is currently or has been a fast-food jockey- he found/finds it demeaning and ultimately pointless, so to him, it’s the epitome of menial drudgery, his version of Hell.
5. How come you seem to be the only person who sees this “evidence” of yours?
-The more fanciful his “discoveries”, the more responses he gets. The more response- good or bad- the more fanciful his creations.
He started out by showing photos directly from the Apollo Journal site, and simply attaching quite wild captions to them: see that bootprint? It’s superimposed. See that rock? It’s a photo of a mountain range taken at long distance and superimposed to make it look like just a rock. And so on.
Now, of course, to “keep the pressure on”, he’s taken to fabricating photos of his own, and making up even wilder captions.
6. Why do you have a “shuttle” fetish?
-Shuttle envy?
Freud would have a field day with Pipes. We’re talking Master’s Thesis.
