Tip of My Tongue: I swear to god, this band is ripping off some 90s song

This came up on Pandora as I was searching for some classic heavy Sabbith-riff songs, but now I got my mind stuck on it. A lot of me is thinking that it’s some Alice in Chains/Stone Temple Pilots song, but I really just can’t think of it to save my life.

Anyway, here’s the song…tell me what song it reminds you of.

Sounds vaguely Creedence-y to me.

The guitar intro, very, very vaguely, sounds like Far Behind from Candlebox.

The opening guitar riff sounds like a mix of Grateful Dead meets the Black Crowes while the voice sounds like a more nasal version of Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon.

The album is from 2001. It practically is a 90s song.

The single high pitched notes from the lead guitar up front sound Creedece-y to me as well and…

The muffled vocals in the background sound like Candlebox as well.

If I had to pick one I’d probably go with Alice in Chains, but not as good.

Yea, but theres like, ONE song sitting out there that has the EXACT same riff as this, I know it…It sounds soooo familiar.

First few notes of Born on the Bayou?

It’s got that stand out high pitched lead over a droning background.

It’s not a 90’s song but it’s never really fallen out of heavy rotation if you listen to classic rock stations.

Ugh…sorry this is proving to be a difficult find…still looking…

It sounds nothing like Creedence; the beat is not like anything CCR wrote, and there’s no rhythm guitar strumming.

I can absolutely hear what folks are hearing as CCR. I wouldn’t say it sounds like CCR myself, but that guitar riff could be dropped into a CCR song (with a different beat behind it.)

As for the OP, it doesn’t remind me of any song in particular.

That link should have been to this song (if you didn’t figure it out). :smack:

It kinda sounds like a backward version of this or maybe even this (I can’t believe I’m linking to those songs - I found them very annoying)

OMFG OMFG. YOU FOUND IT.

It’s a slightly slowed down version of Collective Soul’s Shine…Thank God someone found it.

Holy crap. I am impressed. Never in a million years would I have connected that song to “Shine.” Straight Dope wins again.

Cool! I think the guitar tone gives it away more than anything.
