Since you are a tech too, nope that statement is not weird at all.
I am tired of all my computer equipment being beige. It’s blah, boring and mundane.
I want black computer equipment and that mouse set…on a cool desk — OY the thought.
On the subject of holiday gift catalogs - I was down at a friend’s house last night and they had recieved one of those candy, beef logs and cheese catalogs. I have to admit it, I love that stuff.

My brother did that to his computer as well. Laminated wood (maple) over the case, and the keyboard was also laminated wood. Was very nice looking.
Hate to nitpick, but shouldn’t that be mice? 
Well, tech, I’d be happy to buy you the mouse, if I had the money. Course, then other complications might arise, like the whole living in different places thing, and postage, and disgruntled poster workers, etc.
