If you were the Pentagon, would you hire a security company called: “Custer Battles”? See the whole dismal story here.
Yes, if they were connected to the right people.
Heaven will punish our nation for this vile war.
That is quite possibly the most retarded response that I have read here.
Why? The Bush Regime talks about God being on our side… why’s it so hard to think of God being pissed off at us?
Never has the ‘The Bush Regime’ said such a thing. There is a difference between something like ‘God has blessed this land et cetera’ and ‘If God is for us, who can be against us?’ And you are bright enough to know the difference.
Besides, even if you can somehow set aside the idiotic content of Bosda’s post, his use of multiple emoticons earns much scorn and derision.
I think the nuke that someone will surely smuggle into the country will be punishment enough.
/bet I just tripped off carnivore with that one
Why? Because I look on the terrible things that are happening, & despair?
Because I believe in moral consequences?
Because I know, beyond any possible doubt, that the mercenaries doing these things shall one day return to the United States, & be unable to put aside the violence in their souls? That they shall likely turn to crime, as other soldiers who could not adapt have done, after other wars, & unleash the same violence on our streets that they have comitted in Iraq?
Great Oogly Moogly! Trying to outdo yourself, eh?
It could be that you’re a superior moral being to Brutus, yes.
It could also be that, given heaven’s definition as a place/state of bliss, it doesn’t really make any sense to talk about it punishing someone…
Do you ever read your own posts?
That is vile slander against military members and veterans alike, and has absolutely no basis in fact. I demand that you retract it, for decency’s sake.
Heaven will punish our nation for your vile post.
You know, you don’t have to rush to the defense of every moron that happens to be antiwar. That’s how you guys got the Donut Lord on your side, and look at the embarrassment that has turned out to be.
Nonsense! Look at the massive post-WW2 crime wave that, to this very day, makes people associate the 1950’s with rampant crime and insecurity.
I wasn’t rushing to anyone’s defense. When you leave yourself wide open like that in a thread that deals with fucked up security, you may as well be screaming “Hit me, Hit me, Hit me!”
Damning with faint praise there, are we?
Yea, verily! We shall be punished by the LORD! Indeed, he shall punish us with boils and with locusts! Alas, oh Babylon on the Potomac! Ye shall be smitten as in the days of Jerubabel! The Hittite host will come down upon thee, and there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth! And baldness, and halitosis! Yea, verily there shall be much halitosis!
Putting aside the war for a minute, isn’t it just the stupidest name you ever heard? It’s like the Pauli Shore Talent Agency or Enron Business Ethics Inc. I know it’s the founders’ names, but please.
From the article:
*"They claim heavily armed security operators on Custer Battles’ missions — among them poorly trained young Kurds, who have historical resentments against other Iraqis — terrorized civilians, shooting indiscriminately as they ran for cover, smashing into and shooting up cars.
On a mission on Nov. 8, escorting ammunition and equipment for the Iraqi army, they claim a Kurd guarding the convoy allegedly shot into a passenger car to clear a traffic jam.
“[He] sighted down his AK-47 and started firing,” says Colling. “It went through the window. As far as I could see, it hit a passenger. And they didn’t even know we were there.”
<snip>
This is not the firm’s first brush with controversy. Custer Battles is a relatively new company in the booming field of so-called “private military companies” in Iraq providing veteran soldiers from around the world for various security jobs."*
I’m thinking the Kurds won’t be returning here for lives of crime, seing as how they’ve never been here in the first place. Same for the other “veteran soldiers from around the world”.
I’m sure not excusing Custer Battles or the military for using them. But find me a place in the article where any military identified as ex US was identified as committing these war crimes.
"*Errante says he also quit after witnessing wild, indiscriminate shootings on two other missions. *
Most of the “wild, indiscriminate shooting” I’ve seen footage of has been from the recently trained Iraqi Army units, not from Highly trained ex Special Forces. If you know them to be guilty then you diddn’t learn it from this article.
I agree, it’s a totally stupid name.
