I’m searching for the title and the author of a children’s Christmas book (from the 1990’s or earlier, possibly)that’s about a family that receives a bell for Christmas. As the years pass and people grow older, they can no longer hear the bell ring/jingle.

That’s part of the plot of The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg. The grown-ups think the bell is broken because they can’t hear it.

The book I recall was a stand alone of this storyline, and it wasn’t The Polar Express. Maybe it could have been a special printing?
