We have set the 30-second skip a number of times in the past 3 or 4 years, and each time the “easter egg” worked just fine. Yesterday, though, it just didn’t work. We entered the sequence, the Tivo went boong boong boong but the function of the button didn’t change. Anyone know why and how to fix it?

My SO just clarified “it was more of a ding sound.” Seriously, we’ve done this at least a dozen times before and it always worked. Today, nothing.
Mine always has to be reset when the power goes out. Have you tried unplugging the unit, waiting ten seconds and then plugging it back in? After it powers up try the hack again.
I’ve found it only works for me if I do the sequence while I’m playing something back that I have recorded. I doesn’t work if I’m just watching live TV and attempt it.
Thanks guys, a reboot seems to have set it straight again. 
Yeah, what always messes me up is you have to be playing back a recorded program from the “Now Playing” list.
