TLC cancels Honey Boo Boo after Mama June renews relationship with child molester BF.

I knew this family was pretty sketchy. A train wreck waiting to happen. I didn’t expect the train to be on fire **before **it derailed. This is so wrong. June renews an old relationship with the guy that molested her 8 year old daughter ten years ago. He just got out of prison a few months ago. She’s got a 9 year old daughter and a high school teen daughter living at home. Plus two adult daughters (one is this guy’s victim from 10 years ago). So she invites this guy back in?

TLC to their credit acted very quickly and canceled the Reality Show. Child Protective Services is investigating. Hopefully this will be a Parole violation and this POS will get a return ticket to prison.

I watched a couple episodes season 1 and couldn’t take anymore. It felt too exploitative even in those early episodes. I’ve heard that it has drawn good ratings for TLC. There’s a question now if they’ll air the final season that’s already finished.

June sounds like scum that’s as bad as McDaniel. If she’s so desperate for a man that she’d date a child molester, of her own kid, then that puts poor Alana at risk now. I hope CPS takes away the kids she now has, and sends her and McDaniel to prison.

Wait, so that little man with no teeth isn’t her husband anymore? I cant remember his name nor could I understand anything he ever said but he seemed like a decent guy.

I know this show gets a lot of flack, deservedly, and when it first(ish) came out, I watched about two episodes to see what all the fuss was about – and I was a little surprised. So there’s the obvious, okay, these people are living a certain kind of American lifestyle that the rest of the population likes to gawp at … but I found myself somewhat impressed with how invested the mom seemed in her kids – they did a lot as a family, they genuinely seemed to have fun and have strong relationships with each other, and so I was really surprised about this news story. It’s a terrible decision on the part of the mother, and I feel very badly for the daughter who was the victim. I imagine TLC is doing a lot of CYA work right now, but I hope it genuinely helps the kids regardless of the motivation.

Edited to add: yeah, I liked that toothless guy too.

It does explain why Alana’s dad Sugar Bear moved out a couple months ago. If TMZ is correct, June has been seeing her ex-bf since he got out of prison.

Here’s the article from Sept when June and Sugar Bear split up. They blamed it on Mike but apparently June was getting some action on the side too.

I thought so too. He was likeable and seemed like a good guy. I went to high school with guys like this. Some are missing teeth today. But they are hard working guys that take care of their families. That’s what really matters.

Never watched the show, but I gotta think they did all they could to stop this from happening and to warn her of consequences, but she ignored them and they had to pull the trigger and put the show down.

Her own damned fault and she is personally culpable if he molests any of her kids this time.

First “Sons of Guns,” now “Honey Boo-Boo.” I hope networks take a long and hard look in the future and do some thorough investigation when offering people reality shows.

I thought you were going to start “doing it backwards” and begin with the quote you are responding to, rather than begin with your response? Tsk, tsk.

Why is shit like this ever put on the air in the first place? I came to realize long ago that most foreigners are perfectly justified in their disdain for America after seeing such crap.

18 year habits die hard. I’ll do better next time.

Because it’s an opportunity for people to feel superior. That’s it’s whole appeal, when you boil it down. Yes, they are personable and definitely amusing, in their way. But I still think the popularity is because people enjoy feeling superior to others so very much.

There is a hilarious Onion article just out, “TLC Producer wants list of 100 F’d Up Families on desk by end of the day”. Searching for the NEW freak show sensation.

I often wonder just how much of this is real and how much is made up. I can see finding some photogenic backwoods types to base a reality show on, but I can also see them getting plenty of guidance in the storylines. I’m not surprised TLC cancelled the show (not that they had much choice) but I also wonder if they aren’t wishing they could keep on filming - think of the ratings.

Of course she’s seeing a pedophile! She made * her daughter** into a sexual object at 4 years old say want about the caring loving nature on the show but this is a woman who gave her child a concoction of Mountain Dew and Red Bull to get her * up*** for this monstrosity of kiddie porn that is called a little miss beauty pageants. I hope he goes back to prison and she gets the kids taken away from her. ok off the soapbox now

How did he molest her 8 year old daughter 10 years ago?

He molester her 18-year-old daughter.

Of course she has more than one child. She’s had sex more than once, right?

I have been called a classist and a “fatty hater” (even though I’m chunky myself) and other things for my disgust at Mama June. I could never care less If she weighed 80 lbs. or 800 and I certainly don’t think being poor makes someone a bad person anymore than it ennobled them, but the fact she had 4 children by 4 different men in a short period of time, which by definition meant she was traipsing strange men constantly into her oldest daughter’s lives before Alana’s father, and then was spending the families very small disposable income on fecking pageants instead of college funds or on something to help her own fat ass make a living and not have to have her kids on the public dime and perhaps inspire them to break the cycle was ‘Nuff said’. I’ve known too many of them over the years-they’re not good people, and that’s not just because they’re poor or on state aid but because of awful actions and choices.

One of the revelations of this is how staged the freak show is. Her oldest daughter did not even live with her when the show started- she lived with her grandmother, and the show convinced her to move in for the “big happy trashy family” vibe. (I don’t know if she was pregnant yet as I don’t know the timeline of the two thumbed baby’s conception and birth.) The clips of the show usually were usually of Alana saying things up that made me go :dubious: because no 8 year old says things like that.

Now TLC says they won’t air the new season. I’ll give 12:1 odds they’ll find a way to air it within months, just like A&E did Dog the Bounty Hunter and whatever network Duck Dynasty is on rescinded their no more Papa edict after their racist tapes were played and other networks found ways around similar trashy meltdowns. They’ve too much money and the scandal has given the ratings a boost, it will air. I just hope the oldest daughters got enough money to escape.

Ok, she was 8 years old 10 years ago. Got it. Sorry.

I’ve watching the first few episodes of the show just so I can understand the hoopla better. I don’t like being in the dark about popular culture.

Is it bad that I think Honey Boo Boo is hilarious?

Isn’t that the entire point? “Look at these crazy hicks? Isn’t that hilarious? Aww, they think they’re people!
