TLC cancels Honey Boo Boo after Mama June renews relationship with child molester BF.

TLC Producer Wants List Of 100 Fucked-Up Families On Desk By End Of Dayis the article mentioned above. Well worth a read.

Is the show scripted for her? I have never seen it, though I have seen clips on the Soup. I know it is reality to some extent, but is the kids’ stuff somewhat scripted?

It’s nothing new. Paddy Chayefsky predicted this almost forty years ago.

“I’m as stupid as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!”

A little too much reality in this “reality” show for TLC, I guess. What a mess.

There’s a Honey Blow Blow joke in here somewhere but my parole conditions pervernt me from saying anymore.

Actually, to be accurate, Anna is 20 now, which means the molestation occurred 12 years ago. I assume it took two years to go to trial and get the guy convicted when he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

I watched it when it was on. I thought the family was endearing at times but of course gross at the same time. I liked it.

Doesn’t feel like Alana’s lines are scripted. If a kid spends all of her time watching TV and hanging out around adults, and not being censored, the kid will say “the darnedest things.” Over and over again.

I never thought the family was headed for any sort of scandal or trainwreck. They were good to root for because, at least from what I read, Mama June was being diligent about the money the family got from the show and putting it away for the future. Not sure if some of the perks they randomly brought into the show (like the pool, or the wedding) were bought with the family’s money or if the show sponsored it directly.

She talked a good talk about her kids and the family, so this scandal, to me, is quite a surprise. She actually seems like the sort of person who would be quick to rid herself of anyone that pissed her off in the slightest (see: 4 kids with 4 men) so to even have contact with this creep - let alone carry on a relationship with him - seems uncharacteristic to me.

I say good on TLC for dropping it, though. They were a fun family to watch but losing Sugar Bear from the equation really hurts it, and now having a “she might just be a horrible person” vibe added on top of it, it would not be fun to watch anymore.

I hope things work out for Anna, and if she does split from her family she at least has some money for TLC (hoping she got it directly if she was 18…?)

That was kinda wrong, but damn it made me laugh.

Wow. Who would have thought someone who put her toddler in beauty pageants on Red Bull would show poor judgment? I am shocked, shocked, I tell you.

Trash is trash.

The Onion has a better track record than Nostradamus.

Oh, I dunno:

Gotta love those vague references and sneaky translations.

Huh? Top-posting (where you put your response ABOVE, rather than BELOW the material you’re responding to) IS the backwards way. Did he maybe say he was going to STOP doing it backwards?

But that’s off-topic, and I don’t wish to encourage a hijack.

In the discussion at hand, what’s the erstwhile program’s namesake’s reaction to these developments (not about Mom having the creepy uncle over again, the fact that she’s no longer a celebrity).

Anna Marie Cardwell (Chickadee) gave People an interview. She’s still having trouble accepting that her mom did this. She explains what happened 10 years ago. Apparently June
supported her bf even back then.

No question that she’s back with Mark McDaniel. She was photographed house hunting with the guy. Bought him a car too. I guess he’s helping her spend the Reality Show earnings. I suspect that he’ll take her for everything she has pretty quick. imho

I hope the Production company put Alana’s money in a trust. Isn’t that required in most states for child actors?

It’s called the Jackie Coogan law in California. His family squandered all his earnings when he was a kid. Steps were taken to protect future child actors that work in California.

From the thread where he was asked to fix his posting style. (Italics mine). Hopefully that clarifies.

Well, since you asked, the quote is referring to this. Carry on.

The Washington Post’s TV critic genuinely liked the show. Mama has gone off the rails, though, and not believing her daughter back then seems like an unforgivable revelation.

Thank God! Blessing in disguise!

She claims she hasn’t seen him in ten years, and his son says so too. Of course the son thinks his dad is innocent of the molestation charges too.

Godfather of PIttsburg is taken, so only 99 left.
