TMNT

I have fond memories of watching the show “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” as young kid. Now being an older kid, I’m looking back on that show and thinking “Mutated tutles that are teenage ninja masters? What the hell is going on???” I loved that show so much. The concept of the show is so damn stupid, but I just loved it. Nowadays the Ninja Turtle name has been tarnished by several mediocore movies and a horrible live action show. I find myself longing for the days of that wonderful cartoon. Anyone know if any networks still carry it?

They’re the world’s most fiercesome fighting team.
“We’re really hip!”

They’re heroes in a half shell and they’re green.
“Hey, get a grip!”

When the evil Shredder attacks, these turtle boys don’t cut him no slack.

Splinter taught them to be ninja teens.
“He’s a radical rat!”

Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines.
“That’s a fact, Jack!”

Raphael is cool but rude.
“Gimme a break.”

Michaelangelo is a party dude.
“Party!”

I always enjoyed the early black and white comics. Much darker and more violent. Very entertaining.

You weren’t just on FHDC, were you SuperNova? We were just talking about that!

The older ones WERE much more cool and not-so-kid-friendly. I sorta miss them.

Even better than the Turtles were the endless imitators, once other companies noticed the massive cash flow the TMNT were generating. The first one I can remember was the Adolescent Radioactive Blackbelt Hamsters (I actually own issue #1). Then came the Pre-Teen Dirty-Gene Kung-Fu Kangaroos. Somewhere in there were the Colossal Nuclear Samurai Snails. And then there was my favorite title of all: Geriatric Gangrene Jujitsu Gerbils.

Ah, those were the days…

Fucking A Max. I had that issue, then lost it. i actually toured the company. Wish I could remember which one. Only thing I really remember was the mohawk and the funky glasses on one of them

The one with the mohawk, IIRC, was Chuck. Just as the TMNT were all named after artists, the ARBBH were named after action-movie stars. Another was named Bruce; I won’t be able to remember the others without digging out the issue.

Don’t ask me how I remember this crap. I think I have a tumor that stores useless information or something…

The very first CD I ever owned was the TMNT movie soundtrack. (I give it a nine point nine five! Uhnh! Ok, sorry.) I used to know all the lyrics by heart. I also played and enjoyed their NES game, and religiously watched them on Saturday morning. They were cool, dude.

I also enjoyed the Eastman and Laird comics, though the ones I had were collected editions, in color. Didn’t hurt that their whole origin is a big tip of the hat to Daredevil. The NES game was phat like the whale, even if it was stupid easy.

April O’Neil is one of the first cartoon chicks I ever lusted after.
