I’ve been thinking about this since yesterday, and it’s driving me crazy. I guess I didn’t pay attention to the actual content of the sketch, because all I took away from it was a genuine appreciation for the quality of the impersonation. Obviously you remember it a lot better than I did - could you please summarize it for me? I’m curious to know why it bothers you so much.
Thanks.
George Hickenlooper, director of Factory Girl, on which film Murphy’s husband had a producer/writer credit, has a blog. On which he posted the following:
It wasn’t funny. It’s pretty much that simple. It’s the same drugged out pop-tart persona they trot out no matter what. If they were doing Amy Winehouse she would’ve been wearing a whig and had a bad British accent.
The shocking change in Brittany’s appearance should have been a clear warning sign. I’ve wondered if she suffered the same fate as Karen Carpenter. Severe diets, laxatives, and purging can miss up the bodies electrolytes. Low potassium can damage the heart permanently. Heart damage is what ultimately killed Karen Carpenter.
I read the TMZ report about the prescription drugs in the house. I hope that wasn’t a factor.
