It isn’t too often I agree with you, but I’m totally with you here. We don’t get to choose what others say and do, but we have full control over how we conduct ourselves.
And as for the OP, I do not want bad shit to happen to people who voted for Trump. Even those who, like these conservative commentators, have established their bona fides as ‘deplorables.’ What good does it do me, and what good does it do anyone who might have their lives upended by Trump/GOP changes in policy, for bad shit to happen to those people?
I wish the voters themselves would come to their senses and realize that, if they voted for Trump out of ‘economic anxiety,’ they essentially joined a cargo cult. (I don’t know what to wish for those who supported Trump for more pernicious reasons. That’s beyond such wisdom as I have.) And I wish that pro-Trump spokespersons, the ones who get on TV, would get a sudden and irresistible urge to retire from public life. But that’s about it.

If that was the case then why didn’t the sheer hypocrisy, stupidity & vitriol of the Trump campaign (which was this plus a factor of 10) drive many people to turn away from the wack-a-doodle conservative side & towards Clinton?
We tried, “when they go low we go high”, and the result was president Trump. Now by inclination I’m with you. It is the nature of Liberals to try to see things form multiple sides, not to criticize until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes* and so on, but unfortunately the current political system appears to be the prisoner’s dilemma writ large and if your opponent if going hard on the defect side it doesn’t do a lot of good to stick on the cooperate side out of a sense of decency.

I’ll believe Trump is capable of being anything more than a paper tiger with respect to Iran/ME when I see him demand payment from the Mexican president for the border wall. I think they’re due to meet this week, no? Let’s see how that conversation goes.
I’ll tell you the weird thing about that. No one scoffed more at the notion that Trump could make the Mexicans pay for the wall than me, and I’m still highly skeptical. However, it would appear that a lot of Mexicans think this will happen.
[FTR, if it does happen it would probably be an immoral and imperialistic action on the part of the US, in that in involves forcing another country to do something against the interest of its own citizens.]
