Where are the best sites for selling?
My chorus just recorded our first CD, and I was thinking that selling on line would be a good thing. So, I’d like input from anyone who has done that sort of thing. kthxbai

I have some friends who did OK with CD Baby.

Yeah, CD Baby is the best one I’ve ever used. You send them your CDs, which they then store at their warehouse. Then they ship it all wrapped up when a customer buys it online. They also provide a credit card machine you can use at your live shows… then you send them the receipts and they do all the charging (obviously this is risky if the CC is declined).

The only drawback is that they take $4 for every CD sold. To me that sounds a little excessive, but YMMV. But overall I think they’re the most well-regarded independent CD retailer.

CDBaby is fair, from what I heard. I went through Tunecore, a service that gets you out there on iTunes, Amazon, etc. For physical CDs we went with Dischord, but you probably wouldn’t want to do that, as they’re sort of, um, specialized.
