Saw the other thread. I suggest just putting Elvis on ignore and being done with it. Or at least just skip his posts in anything sports related.
No, you can safely skip his posts on any topic.
Unless you want to know someone who’s consistently wrong so that you can form the opposite opinion - that’s actually pretty useful.
Don’t you have finals to study for?
We’re allowed to talk about ignore lists in the Pit, right?
I highly recommend using the feature for Elvis. All of his comments have no value to the discussion, so you don’t miss anything. But if you respond to him in any way it’s very easy to get pulled right into the muck with him. He’s the only poster that I use the ignore list for, and it works great. There are definitely threads that I have enjoyed reading and posting in that wouldn’t have been possible before I started ignoring him over the past year or so.
The only issue is that you have to be logged in. I’ve mistakenly responded to him a couple times not realizing the username was his.
And yet you’re in absolute agreement with me on the actual topic of this thread. Remarkable.
Even more evidence that haters gonna hate.
… you can respond without logging in?
I wonder how much Elvis actually damages the causes he believes in. His style of defending Hillary Clinton in the 08 election runup was disgusting and deplorable. He thought he was making this great, persuasive case for her, using a lot of the same “haters gonna hate” logic to dismiss anyone who was critical of her, and it really soured me on her. When it came to the Clinton/Obama schism on the board, it was pretty clear that most Obama supporters were fairly genuine people, and most of the loudest Clinton supporters gave off this retarded, arrogant, slimy vibe. While this may not be entirely fair, a significant portion of the wariness I have towards a potential Clinton election run is from people like Elvis.
I suspect I’m not the only one. He thinks he’s some sort of message board god with his complete obliviousness but all it does is make people reflexively dislike whatever position he’s supporting. Almost certainly he’s drumming up some anti-Patriot sentiment from people who otherwise were neutral simply because in their minds he represents their fans and he’s a retarded scumbag.
He’s one of those people who is so amazingly bad at discussions and arguments, and so oblivious to it, that he almost certainly does far more damage to his causes by supporting them than anything positive. Easily one of the worst posters on this board, pretty consistently.
Got some facts and reasoning to offer in support? No?
Pity. Typical of you, but still a pity.
It’s also why Debaser no longer even tries to support his kneejerking in Great Debates. He somehow finds ways to put all the blame for his inadequacies on others, too.
Your message board history. Any of it. People almost uniformly agree, when they comment on it at all, that it’s quite remarkably shitty. And no one reading this thread needs any sort of proof of your behavior, since it’s on its full retarded display right here.
You seem like a textbook case in some sort of extreme degree of obliviousness and delusion, so I don’t think it can possibly register with you even if every single person that comments on your worth as a poster thinks badly of you.
You aren’t logged in.
You see a post you’d like to respond to.
You are sent to a login page where you enter your username and password.
You are automatically directed to a page where you can respond to the post you initially clicked on, even though that post wouldn’t normally be visible since your ignore list would block it.
You type your response and hit submit reply.
You now see your response, but not the original post that you responded to, since it is now blocked because you are logged in.
If you’re me, then you…
Say “D’oh!”
Consider deleting the post.
Decide against it.
Don’t see any subsequent responses because of the ignore list, so it doesn’t matter anyway.
It is remarkable that not one person has anything to offer in the slightest as a defense of ElvisL1ves. He appears to be universally despised.
Uniting dopers in an opinion is truly an achievement.
Apparently it may be somehow an idiosyncratic function of aging, if I read his sputterings correctly.
He’s the exact same in political threads it’s just that he’s an obnoxious ass for the “correct” viewpoint so he doesn’t usually get called on it.
If you can show where somebody is factually or logically wrong on something on this board, you can always do so. That’s what the board is for, after all.
If not, well, please proceed.
I said you are an obnoxious ass. You want a fact check on that?
I’ve been given to understand that they are fundamentally about physically training young men in the skills they will need in order to go into battle on behalf of the tribe/city/city-state/state/empire.
True fact.
He does get called on it, but usually only by those who disagree with him. Because he’s so fucking stupid and incapable of actual debate, he’s the one that gets singled out by guys like Shodan or Bricker to respond to. Those of us who tend to be on the same side as Elvisl!ves politically, just ignore him because he’s an embarrassment.
Actually, I think Bricker has him on ignore. Which makes his desperate flailing for Bricker’s attention that much funnier.
So is the Five Minutes Hate over now? If you still have some left, by all means, go ahead. I can always use a good laugh.
When any of you have some facts and reasoning to present, on any subject for that matter, the forums dedicated to *fighting *ignorance are all available to you. Perhaps you’ll realize that when you turn 14.
Keep on hating, hater.
