To the customer who made me cry today

Anyone who says “the customer is always right” and means it is a fucking moron. Sometimes the customer is stupid, or wants to use you as a punching bag, or is trying to scam you. And it does take a certain personality to do well in customer service without stressing. I don’t presume to tell others that they don’t have it, but I know I don’t, so I got out. Even if it weren’t for the emotional stress, tech support was trashing my throat, especially when I worked at Sony. I was talking nearly nonstop when I wasn’t on break. It didn’t help that I have a naturally deep voice; phone noise is generally also low frequency, so I had to talk louder and in a higher pitch to be heard.

I agree that Little Nemo speaks words of sage wisdom.

But I wonder how much of his Zen attitude results from the fact that he gets to lock his “customers” up in cages every night? :cool:
