I didn’t say it did. Senators don’t run the country individually, and I never said it was the only qualification. However, with all else being equal, a Political Science degree will be more helpful than many others.
Well, by that standard, preferring salads for lunch rather than burritos is also a relevant qualification, all else being equal. Can’t get much legislating done (especially filibustering ) when you’re preoccupied with your bowels.
Did a political science major beat you up at the freshman mixer, or something? How exactly does having a degree in Political Science become a detriment to a career in Politics? Do you have an issue with doctors having medical degrees too?
Pay attention to thread. I am simply mocking Shayna because that’s her basis on why Franken is more qualified than Limbaugh. Of course, that was all before we learned why she always seemed to be talking with a mouthful. After that, I kinda feel bad for picking on her.
I’ve got nothing against PolySci majors myself. As you noted, they threw kick ass parties.
That’s not a very convincing cite, to me.
Look at the big list at the end. Starting with West Virginia at +19 Dem, and going down to Virginia at +9 is the range of states with mixed Obama/McCain votes. From Kentucky at +13 down, there are a substantial number of states that supposedly lean 9-13% Democratic, yet voted for the Republican candidate.
Starting with +6 state Oklahoma, every state below that votes McCain.
This tells me that the “Party Advantage” that they claim to be calculating is a pretty bogus measure. It is skewed by an unknown number of points, probably between 6 and 19. Adjusting the numbers by 10 points, which is a fairly conservative adjustment based on the 2008 results, means that the “Democratic Advantage” is reduced to much less. The “most” Democratic state becomes +27, while the most Republican one becomes 33, and the 0-point is between 29 Democratic states, 21 Republican ones. Sure, it’s skewed toward the Democrats, but this is the results from an election they won.
Franken: has a degree in Political Science from Harvard.
Limbaugh: flunked all of his classes at Southeastern Missouri State.
You’re right, Limbaugh is much better qualified to be a US Senator.
And Presidential voting is not the only measure of a state politically. Arkansas, Montana, and West Virginia all voted for McCain, and all three have two Democratic Senators. Pryor and Lincoln are pretty conservative, I grant you, but Tester and Rockefeller aren’t.
Hmm. That explains a lot.
Shodan…
I love you…
… he says, completely non-ironically whilst slobbering Shodan’s knob.
I’ve often wondered about that myself. The same also applies to Bill “Falafel” O’ Reilly. Those people have been caught doing and saying so many stupid and embarassing things so many times, they should’ve disappeared from the airwaves years ago. Yet, there they are, still with a loyal and credulous flock of listeners who devoutly tune in every weekday.
Who can blame? “Ox is Gore-d”! A wit that sparkles like day-old ginger ale.
Bullies always seem to attract hoards of devoted weak willed toadies.
That’s not the amazing part. The amazing part is that they swallow every bit as if it were Gospel w/o critically analyzing anything and/or seeking out other sources. I mean, I love watching Olbermann, but I understand that at times, he’s a raving lune.
I reckon Sinaijon is so far up Rush’s arse he can see Shodan’s feet.
Ignorance is strength. If what you’re concerned about is ideological purity, then anyone who questions you is going to go by the wayside. Rush & Co. are not interested in debating what’s best for America, they’re interested in controlling the debate. They want to frame it in a manner such that if someone disagrees with them (even if they share similar goals), that person has to spend so much time dealing with other matters that they can’t move the discussion forward in a meaningful manner.
That’s one of the greatest damages that Bush caused to the conservative movement. By being such a drooling dolt, he so tainted his end of the political spectrum, that arguments put forth from a conservative perspective automatically get a “Bush tried that and it didn’t work!” response, even if its not an accurate statement.
Is that a mnemonic, like “Oh, Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me (Right Now Smack)” ?
It sure sounds like one.
A stellar joke, sir, stellar.
– bolding mine.
You may think that’s what you were doing, in a “make our own reality” kind of sense. But I hate to tell you that the one that’s coming off as a fucktard is not Shayna.
Well, on second thought, not really, no. I don’t mind one bit telling you what a complete and utter imbecile you are. In fact, you’re the very definition of a moran.
Affectaciously,

I am now having a visual nightmare of Regards, Shodan, our neighbourhood racist troll, fellating Rush Limbaugh.
Need to scrub brain with acid, thanks.
