There was a lady stabbed to death today here in Melbourne. She had earlier been to court to reaffirm an Intervention Order against her partner, after which she had gone back to the Women’s Refuge where she lived. She briefly left to visit her solicitor and it was then that she was killed.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry that the legal system couldn’t protect you. I’m sorry that your children had to witness your death. I’m sorry that our news service gave greater coverage to the visit by the Royals than to your gruesome death.

What the fuck is wrong with this world?

That is sad. Awful.

There is only one person to blame here - the obsessive dysfunctional man who killed her. No-one else.

I read stories like this and think “screw the piece of paper, issue a shotgun instead” but, of course, that would also have potentially lethal downsides as well.
