Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner. The elections (in most places) are over. Losers, soak it up, and move on. Winners - be as magnanimous in victory as your candidate was.
That means: Everyone take your fucking signs down… Unless you’ve got a bone in the Georgia senate race.
No shit, Michigan repubs are sore ass losers, they still have bush cheney signs up, DeVos (HUGE leftover from our governor race, 2 , TWO years ago)signs and now the state road remains littered yes littered i tell you with mcacain palin signs. And who is this Ginster fuck? he is a loser he lost go away now.
I agree with this post 100%. Except for I think **yard signs **should come down. Display your support in any way you like, but **yard signs **get battered by wind, they get weatherbeaten, they fade, they become trash. And still people won’t take them down. Leave your signs in your windows where they don’t get ragged; wear your T-shirts; keep your bobblehead dolls on your desk. Just don’t contribute to your neighborhood looking trashy.
If it’s my yard I’ll put up whatever I goddamn well please, and so should everybody else. Hell if I had a yard and a McCain sign, i’d consider putting it up based on this thread alone.
You don’t think there’s a single National Front member or Neo-Nazi or some other garden-variety racist on your campus?*
*this is not to say that everyone who didn’t vote for Obama is a Neo-Nazi or racist or whatever.
Being evil, I must give you an unqualified yes. Also, anyone with a Mondale/Ferraro bumper sticker may be beaten to death, as soon as you verify they are not lost in time.
My locality is making a point that they are going to fine candidates who still have signs up after December 1.
My thinking: WTF? So the candidate has full control over all of his signs? Hell if I didn’t like “Bob the Dog Catcher” I would just go take about twenty of his signs down, and after Dec 1, start putting them up at random locations around town.
And, I’m with another poster. Who are this shithole town councils to tell me I can’t have political signs in my yard? Yes, I think they look tacky, but what is the 1st amendment for if not to protect political speech?
I think all election signs should be taken down and thrown away the next trash day following the election. Distinguishing between the winning and losing candidate is childish.
FTR, I also think that those lawn geese are stupid.
However, if you don’t follow my marching orders, I’ll still let you borrow a cup of sugar. There are other things in life more important. However, if you start putting little outfits on your geese, all bets are off.
Okay, my new experiment is to see how long I can keep my Obama sign up until it gets stolen/taken out by the elements/drunkenly mowed over. It must stay up for '12, at least.
I encourage everybody else to keep up your signs (especially the losers) and see how long they last.
