Well, by the time I realized that there were two seperate threads detailing the same incident, this one had sort of mutated into a discussion of Otto’s claims that the bombs were designed to target civilians, and so I thought it was different enough to let have its own life.
And I started this thread only regarding that particular person. hence the thread title, “to the Navy fuckwad who…”. Other folks took the opportunity to slam me for always “criticizing the government.” I honestly did not open this thread to “criticize the government” but to address the specific incident. had I known there was another thread on the same topic I wouldn’t have opened this one. If you re-read my OP, it consists of nothing more than telling this jackass to grow up. If others want to take it further than that, that’s certainly their perogative, but I was not the one who opened up the discussion of institutionalized homophobia in the military.
Sorry if that came across as a slap toward the moderators, JC, I always defer to your judgement in these matters.
You are right, of course, that while these threads are, essentially, covering the same material, this one seems a bit heavier on specific idiocy or malicious invective.

Now, I look at the comment I addressed and see, very clearly, the word “period.” That means, to those literate in the English written word, “nothing else” or “that’s all.”
I maintained that the military’s job is not exclusively to kill. Apparently you agree with that given the following posts. That you attempt to take me to task for stating something you evidently do agree with (assuming that you, for one moment at least, had a glimpse of understanding the English written word), shows me, and damn near everyone else on the planet with a functioning brain, that it is you, not I, with the ironing board encased in the skull.

Exactly. I just wanted to point out that some anger towards the bomb’s grafitti is warranted, but yes, it really should just be ignored. If we never even knew about the writing, it would have had no effect on anyone’s lives whatsoever. Plus, I’m almost certain the writer was not thinking “I really hate gays so I’ll compare the terrorists to gays,” when he wrote that.
