I once got “We Buy Junker Cars”.
Acetone. It’s cheap, and you can buy it at any hardware store.
Oh, and fuck those guys. Fucking bastards.
ETA: Watch the paint, though. Don’t get acetone on the paint.
Win.
Yep, in Pittsburgh too, courtesy a bill introduced by my kickass councilman.
I can’t imagine how enraged I would be if someone stuck something to my windshield that ended up turning into papier mache.
IANAL, nor do I play one on TV. But I think this would work.
Every time you get a flyer on your car, take a picture of it, then bill the company that the poster advertises for removal of the poster from your car. Use a rate of $200 per hour with a minimum charge of one hour’s time, just like lawyers do (except they would use a rate of $500).
Send the invoice to the business. After 30 days, send them a dun notice. After 60 days, send them another. After 90 days, send them a certified letter demanding payment. After 120 days, sue them in small claims court. It doesn’t cost you anything to do that, or if it does, it’s nominal. I doubt they will show up and you’ll get a summary judgment against them. Demand payment immediately.
Odds are, they still won’t pay, so have the sheriff execute the judgment on them by seizing their inventory and / or sound system to sell at auction to satisfy the judgment.
All it costs you is a little time and postage.
Whenever I take one of those things off of my car, I go around to all the cars nearby and remove it from their windshields too. It doesn’t do much, but at least some of their flyers went to waste. And a few folks don’t have to deal with it.
Coupons. People telling them how they came to the store when asked.
It’s not hard to measure this.
In another Pit thread, flatlined was contemplating shoving a co-worker into a shredder, feet first. Perhaps you should contact her and see if she does volume discounts. Not for the flyers…for the people who think it’s a good idea to advertise this way.
