Question’s in the title; I’m assuming the board authorities would take a very dim view if we were to try to openly drum up sales through this board, but are we allowed to link to (either clickably, or by description) our ebay items, for any reason at all, such as soliciting constructive criticism and advice on improving selling skills?
Hmmm. I’ll pass this one around for the other mods to chew over. I’m not sure we can draw a line: where does “how to sell” stop and “selling” begin?
My personal take would be that our overall goal is NOT to have posters here subjected to or bombarded with threads that have a primarily commercial purpose. (Aside: we do make some exceptions with advance permission from Mods, like to encourage young writers and artists, for instance.) So, I think the answer is, it depends. (Alas, so many times that’s the answer.)
EXAMPLE: A single post of “I’m thinking of putting this ad on ebay, can you help me with the wording?” is probably acceptable now and then. If the same person has 20 posts for 20 different items, all with the “Can you help me with the wording,” then they’re probably on the other side of the line. However, I’m not going to define where the line is.
