That is INCREDIBLY awesome!!! (And I mean that in both the vernacular sense and the “full of awe” sense!)

Awesome !
Congratulations!
This calls for a toast!
oh. wait.
I kid, I kid. Congrats.
What a huge feat. I’m extremely proud of you!
Unless you’ve been through it, you honestly can’t imagine it.
September 23, 1990 for me. Did you get your chip? I don’t go to meetings anymore but have a contact that gets me my chips for my milestones. Not sure exactly why I desire them, but when it comes down to it, they are a great source of pride and something I will discuss seriously with my boys when they are older.
Is your past life now just a bad memory? Mine seems like someone else’s life in retrospection. Not saying I don’t remember the nasty sleazy stuff that went along with it, but I’ve come to the point where I can almost forgive myself of it. I’m very thankful that my husband never knew that person. He’s probably a little less happy, since I was a horny bitch, but I believe that the responsible married mom that I am now is a huge improvement.
slight hijack alert
Tell me your take on parties these days. I just don’t understand why everything from a baby shower to a baptism to a child’s birthday party seems to require alcohol. I JUST DON’T GET IT. Sure, when I was drinking if there wasn’t booze at the party I had my own, but these are “regular folk”. At my baby shower they actually asked when I was leaving so they could start drinking. I’m interested in your thoughts and anyone else’s that care to comment.
Peace & Joy
Oh, and I forgot to mention, this is neither mundane nor pointless.
This is a feat that only a small percentage achieve. I hope I make it there!
Definitely discuss it with your boys! When my father died two and a half years ago, we buried his most recent chip and his 24-hour chip (the two he always carried with him) with some of his ashes. Then the rest of us took a couple as mementos. I have his sixteen-year chip, and it’s one of my prized possessions.
And Twickster, congratulations! That’s great!
RSSchen – your questions deserve thoughtful answers, and since I’m in the middle of a busy day at work, I don’t have time to give them right now. Just wanted to let you know I’m keeping an eye on this thread (just to keep that huge smile on my face going – thanks for your good wishes, everyone!) and will respond tonight.
Fabu!
<riotous applause>
Wonderful, twicks! I’m almost as impressed by the time of year you chose to quit as by the number of years it’s been. Very inspiring. Congratulations!
Great news! 20 years! I wish you all kinds good stuff! (I think this is worthy of the many exclamation points used) Yeah!
Yeah twicks!!!
